    • Josiah Pillow Kent, married Clarissa August 2, 1836. Clarissa was left an orphan at an early age and was raised by a half brother in Ohio. Immediately after their marriage they moved to Sangamon County, Illinois, settling on a farm about two and one half miles south west of Illiopolis. The exact center of the state is said to be on their farm. He died July 28, 1856, the result of a tumor caused by the bite of a stallion. Both he and his wife are buried in Long point Cemetery, at Niantic, Ill.
