Will of Thos. Harper of Essex County, dated 17 Jan. 1709.
Unto my loving wife Mary Harper the plantation whereon I now live with a hundred acres of land dureing her life with the third part of all my personall estate.
Unto my son Thomas Harper 100 acres adjacent to my plantation and in the same tract whereon I now live.
To my son Soloman Harper 144 acres in Essex County adjacent to the land of William Cocks, being part of a tract of 244 acres
To my daughter Mary Harper 100 acres being the other part of the aforesaid 244 acres.
All the other part of my personall estate equally divided between my three children Soloman, Thos. and Mary Harper.
My loving wife Mary Harper executrix.

HARPER, THOMAS, of the County of Rappa in the Parish of ffarnham.
All my debts being honestly satisfied & paid then it is my desire that my welbeloved wife Mary Harper and Jno Harper my eldest son be Joyntly Executors. of all my personall estate moveable & Immoveable & furthermore it is my desire that all my land be Equally Devided between my three sonns Jno., Solomon and Thomas Harper Then my desire is that my wife and other son Jno. Harper be posest with the aforesaid Land untill my two youngest sons doe Come to age Provided my wife should Marry any such pson who may by his prodigallyty wast Consume & destroy ye aforesaid Land then my son Jno. Harper to take it into his Custody untill they Come to age furthermore I doe bequeath unto my son Jno. Harper one servant boy named Wm. Cassaulough And one gun.

Deed. 9 July 1703. Mary Lake relict of Wm Lake deed of Essex ( this name also appears as Leak and Leake) in the deed ) sells John Harper, planter of Essex ( for consideration paid but more especially for said John Harper making over deed for 300 acres to Tho. Harper of Essex ) 471 acres on the head of Piscataway Creek, a part thereof 114 acres formerly granted to said Wm. Lake 21 October 1687 and adjoining Jas Boughan's land, Clay Patch Branch, the plantation of the Widdow Boughan, Mr. Samuel Parry's land, the land of John Jones, etc. Another parcel of the land, 150 acres was formerly sold by James Boughan of Essex Co. decd to Thomas Troath decd and escheated by the said Wm Leak. And another parcel being 103 1/2 acres was formerly purchased by Thomas Harper of Essex Co. decd from Francis Browne of said County decd, and by Harper sold to Tho: Lydall of said County decd, and by said Wm Leak escheated as by inquest-taken by and before Mr. Isaac Alderson, Escheater, the 18 August 1685.
Another part being 103 1/2 acres being the other-moiety of the 207 acres purchased by the said Tho Harper of the said Francis Browne and was purchased by said Wm Lake from John Jones.
All of which makes up 471 acres, which by will of Wm Leake was given to Mary Leake the extrx and relict.

John Harper of Essex, planter, sells to Thomas Harper of said Co., for 8000 lb Tobo, 300 acres in Essex on branches of Piscataway Creek, part of 1000 acres granted 8 Oct 1672 to James Boughan and The. Harper both deceased. The 300 acres adjoins the bridge swamp, Allexander Denham's line, etc.

F. par. being part of a parcel of 1000 acres of land formerly granted by Sir William Berkley knt., then Governor, to James Boughan and Thomas Harper. The land on Piscataway Poroson and adjoins the mouth of the bridge swamp, a corner of Wm Cocks [Cox] land, the main Poroson.

HARPER. - III., Page 204. William Harper, son and heir of William Harper, was living in Sittenborne Parish, Essex county, in 1699. Will of Solomon Harper mentions brother, Thomas Harper, and William and John Harper, sons of brother John, proved in 1699. John Harper and Lydia, his wife, grant in 1699 to Mrs. Sarah Nicholls land (formerly pantented by Thomas Harper). - Essex County Records. John Harper was a linen draper in Bristol, England, in 1671. - Isle of Wight County Records. William Harper died in York county March 24, 1734. -
