      Brother Francis feather bed; brother John Atwell one horse; son Francis 5 years of age to Thomas son of my brother John Atwell; Anne Pye daughter of John Pye, deceased; Frances and Hannah Tanner daughters of Thomas and Mary Tanner; brother Francis exr.

      Capt. Thomas Atwell, in Nov. 7, 1692 , Francis Atwell acknowledged a deed of gift to his brothers Thomas and John Atwell (O. B. 1690-99, Page 78a).

      He married about 1695 Mrs. Anne Watkins, widow of Capt. William Watts or Watkins, who died in 1694 , and daughter of Capt. Thomas Youell and his wife, Anna Lee, daughter of Col. Richard Lee

      Will of Thomas ATWELL of the parish of Cople in the County of Westmoreland, Gent., dated 13 March 1702/3. "Unto my loving brother Francis ATWELL my best feather bed, bolster and furniture thereunto belonging. Unto my loving brother John ATWELL my best riding horse, with bridle and saddle, pistols, holsters and furniture thereunto belonging, my sword and belt, and cane, with all my wearing sppaarel of what kid soever, as boots and other things. All the rest of my estate, as land and household stuff, cattle, sheep, horses, mares, hogs and what ever else I am now possessed of, unto my son Francis ATWELL. It is my desire that my loving brother Francis ATWELL take my son Francis ATWELL in to his care, custody and tuition until he attains to the age of sixteen years and yearly render an account of the profits and loss at December or January Court. If there should arise any sums of tobacco more than for the convenient education of my said son during his minority, then said sums shall be laid out to purchase land or servants against my said son comes to the age of sixteen, he being of the age of five years 11 June next. being 5 years next. He shall be carefully and constantly kept to schooling and teaching until he attains to the age of twelve years. If my son die before he attains to the age of sixteen years, all my estate unto Thomas ATWELL son of brother John ATWELL when he shall attain to the age of one and twenty years. If Thomas ATWELL should die, unto Anne PYE, daughter of John PYE deceased, Frances and Hannah TANNER, daughters of Mary and Thomas TANNER, to bee equally divided between them. My loving brother Francis ATWELL executor. Thomas ATWELL. Wit. Thomas MARSON, Thos. TANNER, Joseph BEALE and John GRAY. Proved by John GRAY and Joseph BEALE. Probat granted Francis ATWELL, executor."
