      Will of Michll. Gilbert of Cople Parish, Westmoreland County, planter, being sick and weak of body, dated 2 Oct. 1717.
      Unto my sons William Gilbert and John Gilbert all my land equally to be divided, begining for the division at the gully by the house thence to the upper corner tree upon the head line. For default of issue the land unto my son Michael Gilbert.
      My wife enjoy the houses and plantation whereon I now live dureing her widdohood without the molestation of any of my sons.
      My son William shall have the orchard and houses within his part.
      Unto my loving wife Jane Gilbert two of the best feather beds and furnitures and also four cowes and calves, four sheep and my horse and the best ox and all my hoggs.
      The rest of my estate personall not already bequeathed unto my loving wife and my children and grandchild William Shortridge and my will is that he have schooling allowed him out of his part.
      My loving wife Jane Gilbert and my son Wm. Gilbert executors.

      The Last Will and Testament of MICHAEL GILBERT, deced. was presented into Court by JANE GILBERT and WILLIAM GILBERT,
      his Executors who made Oath thereto and being proved by the Oaths of
      SAMUEL RUST, ROBERT HEADLEY and JOHN CORNWELL, wittnesses thereto, is admitt to Record, And on moton ofthe Executors and their performing what is usuall in such cases, Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form; And it is ordered SAMUEL RUST, WILLIAM RUST, ROBERT HEADLEY and SAMUEL DAMONVEL, or any three ofthem being first sworn beforeone ofhis Majesties Justices for this County, doe some time before the next Court value and appraise the Testator's Estate in money and make report thereof tothe next Court

      THIS INDENTURE made the twenty eighth day of September in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred seventy & four Between MICHAEL GILBIRD of the Parish of Cople in the County of Westmoreland of one part and GEORGE LAMKIN of the other part; Witnesseth that MICHLL: GILBIRD in consideracon of the sum of Five shillings Sterling money to him in hand paid by GEORGE LAMKIN the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge, by these presents path sold and released unto GEORGE LAMKIN & his heirs one acre of Land scituated in the Parish of Cople in the County of Westmoreland on the North West side of a Branch of YEOCOMOCO RIVER and on the North side of sd. MICHAEL GILBIRDs Spring Branch in the Fork between the two Branches, the said acre of land being part of a Sale that the Father of MICHAEL GILBIRD bought of Mr. HENRY ROSS, bearing date the 21st day of August 1686; To have and to hold the acre of land with appurtenances unto GEORGE LAMKIN his heirs free and clear from all incumbrances; In Witness whereof the parties first above named have hereunto set their hands & seals the day and year above written
