Jan 29, 1773 from William Courts of the Town of Coulcester in Fairfax County, Virginia, heir at law of Charles Courts, late of CC, to Robert Henley Courts, brother of sd William Courts, of CC. Sd Charles Courts, the father of sd William and Robert Henley Courts, on Sep 30, 1760, being among the other lands seized of 2 tracts, the one called Barn Hill, containing about 196 acres, & the other, spring Bottom, containing about 61 acres in CC, by his will, devised the rest of Barn Hill lying to the south of a Run passing through it, and the whole of spring Bottom, unto ad Robert Henley Courts & his brother, John Courts, and by his will desired that if any of his 3 youngest sons, viz, Joseph, John, & Robert, should die without. issue, then the lands of the decd son should go to the 2 youngest surviving brothers. Sd John Courts is dead, whereby sd Robert Courts is seized of three fourths of sd tract called Spring bottom, & of three fourths of the rest of the tract called Barn Hill, lying to the south of sd Run. But it is feared that the device to sd lands & parts to sd Robert does not import & carry a fee simple estate, for want of words, of Inheritance and that the Reversion in fee of in & to the sd three fourth parts of sd premises, is in sd William Courts as heir at law to his father, Charles Courts, Now this deed witnesses that sd William Courts, for the natural love that the has for sd Robert Henley Courts & that the intention of his father, sd Charles, may be carried out, has given to sd Robert, all the right of sd William to the three fourth parts of the residue of Barn hill and of in & to the three fourths part of spring Bottom. Signed - W. Courts. Wit -.Jno Winter*, Saml Briscoe*. Recorded Feb 5, 1773.
