      Will of Pheby Slaughter of Southfarnham Parish In Essex County, being sick and weak in body, dated 22 March 1708/9.
      Unto my grandson Samuel Peachey my young horse called Darby.
      Unto my granddaughter Phebe Latane the plantation that now Samuel Jones lives upon and all the woods and conveniences belonging thereunto during her natural life and also a young mare called Jeaney that is now unbroke and two cows and two yows and two you lambs and a feather bed and furniture and five peuter dishes one peutr bason and a dozen of peuter plates and a salt, one tankard and a chamber pot, one iron pott and a frying pan.
      Unto my granddaughter Susanna Latane two cows and two yows, two you lambs and a fether bed and furniture, five pewter dishes and one pewter bason and a dozen of pewter plates, one salt, one tankard, one chamber pott, one iron pott and a frying pan.
      Unto my daughter Phebe Latane my two Negros Samson and Nan and all my dividend of land except that small parcell that I have given unto my granddaughter Phebe Latane for her life and likewise all the remaining part of my personal estate both stock of cattle and hoggs, houshold goods and all whatever belongeth unto me.
      My granddaughter Charlot Latane have one you and lamb.
      My daughter Phebe Latane and her son Saml. Peachey and Henry Latane executors.
      My son in law Lewis Latane to be their adviser in all things.

      TO ALL TO WHOM these prsents shall come I Major SMITH of the County of Rappa: in Virginia send Greeting, Know ye yt: ye sd HENRY SMITH for ye affection wch I have & beare unto PHEBE SLAUGHTER, Daughter of WILLM. SLAUGHTER, of ye County aforesd, Gent, and unto PHEBEE her Mother have given unto ye sd PHEBEE two brown heifers now runing at or neare ye Plantation of WILL: SLAUGHTER aforesd. known by ye name of Pudding & Dumpling about three yeares old & all their increase male & female & in case she ye sd PHEBEE ye Daughter of WM. SLAUGHTER should dye before she attains to her age then I give ye sd heifer unto PHEBEE her Mother To have and to hold ye sd heifer with ye increase God shall send from henceforeth for ever but according to ye express words and Limitations herein In Witness whereof I have sett my hand and Seale ye Nineteenth day of Septembr. 1681.

      Richmond County Court 1st of January 1700/1
      - Order of Administracon is granted to Mrs. PHEBE PEACHEY upon the Estate of her deced Husband, WM. PEACHEY, she giving in securitie &c.
      - This day Mrs. PHEBE PEACHEY together wth: Capt. THO: BEAL & Mr. EDWARD JONES did acknowlege themselves indebted unto his Majties Justices for this County the just sum of Twenty thousand pounds of good tobacco in caske, to be paid &c. in case the said PHEBE PEACHEY shall not duely administer the Estate of her deced Husband, WM. PEACHEY, and render a true account thereof & surrender up the same when thereunto lawfully required
      - Ordered that Mr. RAWLEIGH TRAVERS Mr, HENRY BRERETTON, Mr, JOHN SUGGITT, Mr. EDGCOMB SUGGITT or any three of them some time between this & the next Court to be helf for the said County do meet at the House of Mr. WM. PEACHEY late deced and do then & there inventory & appraise all & singular the Estate of the said deced, And make report of their proceedings therein to the said nit Court. Mr. JOHN BAKER is requsdted to be present at the time & place aforesaid to administer an Oath unto the said Appraisers for their due appraismt. as also to the Relict & Administrx. of the said deced for her true discovery of the said Estate
