BUTLER, MARY (d.i., 1745). COB#2, Page 448: 3 May 1745 = Administration on the estate of Mary Butler, deceased, was granted to Elias Powell who gave bond in the sum of £200 with Samuel Reids and James Hackley, his securities. [BB#3, Page 41] COB#2, Page 451, 7 June 1745, noted that the inventory of the estate of Mary Butler, deceased, was returned to court and ordered recorded, however, this is lost in I#2, Page 2, as this page is missing from this volume.

      King George Wills
Sarah Edge presented her daughter Mary Edge in court and prayed she be bound apprentice to Samuel Reids and Jael, his wife, until she was 18 years of age, the said Mary Edge being "five years of age on 12 April next." [COB#l, Page 653 : 2 Nov. 1733]. So it was in colonial times and the records indicate apprentices were often mistreated and were apt to take French leave. The Court Order Books frequently relate these facts; it would make an interesting study for the party with the interest and time to read the unindexed record books.
