      IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen. this 11th day of Decembr: in ye yeare of or: Lord God 1700 I WILLIAM LEAKE of Farnham Parish in the County of Essex, Miller, being weake in body and of sound & perfect sence & memory and knowing the uncertainty of this life on Earth and being desireous to settle my worldly Estate which God of his grease Mercy hath endowed me with in order do make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following:
      Imps. I recommend my Soule into the hands of God Almighty my Creator assuredly believing that I shall receive full pardon & remission of all my sins and be save & precious Death of my blessed Saviour & redeemer Jesus Christ and my body to ye Earth from whence it was taken to be buryed in decent and Christian like manner as my Executrix hereafter named shall see convenient, Also I revoke and make void all former Wills by me made & declare & appoint this my Last Will and Testament
      Item I will that all those debts and duties that in Right or conscence I doe lawfully owe or stand indebted to any manner of person whatsoever shall be well & truely pd. in some lawful! time after my decease by my Executrix.
      Item I give unto my Godson, WILLIAM NEALE, one Cow & Calfe to be paid him when he comes of age to him and his heires forever
      Item I give unto WILLIAM HARPER, the Son of JNO: HARPER, one Cow & Calfe the same to be paid him when he comes of age to him and his heires for ever
      Lastly, I give & bequeath unto my now well beloved Wife, MARY LEAKE, my House and Planation with all the rest of my lands in Virginia or elsewhere whatsoever and also all the rest of my Estate both reall & personall whatever or wherever with all Bills bonds Dues or demands whatsoever that is any wayes owing or due to me the same I give unto her and her heires for ever whom I make & appoint my whole & sole Executrix of this my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I the sd WM. LEAKE have hereunto set my hand and fixed ms seale this day yeare first above written

      The Condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bound MARY LEAKE who att a Court held for Essex County the day and yeare abovesaid obteyned a Probate of the last Will of WM: LEAKE deceased shall and doe at all times hereafter performe ye said Will fully pay and satisfie all such Legatees as therein are expressed and doe performe all ye Law enjoines in such cases, Then he above obligation to be void otherwise to remaine in full force

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I JAMES BOUGHAN of Rappahannock County have for a valluable consideration reced in hand have sold to WILLIAM LAKE his heires forever a parcell of land lying in the County aforesaid and bounded as followeth, Beginning at a corner Beech standing by the CLAY PATH BRANCH and running thence East along the line of the sd BOUGHAN to a white Oake and thence South to a small Spanish Oake alonge the line of the sd BOUGHAN to a white Oake and thence South to a small Spanish Oake alonge the line of Mr. PERRYs land and thence West North West alonge the line of the sd LAKE and JOHN JONES and thence alonge the severall courses of the sd Branch to the first menconed Beech to the place it began, and further I the said JAMES BOUGHAN do bind myself to make a deed of sale that shall warrant the sd land from me my heires to the said WILLIAM LEAKE his heires forever and acknowledge the same in Rappa: Court within the space of Six months As Witness my hand and seale this 7th day of November 1685

County his heires One hundred acers of land being given to me by THOMAS COOPER by his last Will and Testament deceased of this County and bounded as followeth Beginning at a black Walnut standing in an old field and bound running Southerly to FRANCIS BROWNE line and so along the sd BROWNEs line to a white Oahe standing in a Swamp and so down the sd Swamp the severall courses to a line of marked trees belonging to the abovesd LEAKE and along the sd line to the place where it first began at with all rights and priviledges and all profitts belonging with all woods waiters houseing fencing that belongs to the sd land with warranty from any persons whatsoever that shall lay any interest thereunto from under me my heires unto WILLIAM his heires or assigner forever Witness my hand and seale this 2d day of February 1687

LEAKE, who married the Relict of the sd THOMAS HARPER, Therefore ordered that sd GRIGORY do forthwith deliver up the sd HUGH MEADS to the sd WM. LEAKE who is ordered to take him under his Care & charge

      - It being represented to this Court that the Godfather & God (Mother) of JOHN MEADS, Orphan, did about fourteen years ago give unto the said MEADE one Calf of the Encrease whereof is now in the possession of WALTER FISKS three cows with calves by their sides marked wth: the proper marke of the sd WALTER FISKS do forthwith deliver the sd three cows wth: calves to WM. LEAKE for the use of the sd JOHN MEADS, and that he give in security to be answerable for the same when required

      -WM LEAKE brought his accon to this Court aainst RICHARD GREGORY and declares that he did in Febry: last receive a hhd: of tobo: of JNO. KING at ye Dfts. Plantacon in this County conteyning Five hundred neat and did sett his proper marke upon it and went with a man to Rowl it away, and ye Deft. contrary to Law or right did by force of armes take ye said hhd: of tobo: from the Plt: and rowled it into his House and locked his door and have since sold it to ye Plts. damage One thousand pounds of tobo: and cask: wherefore ye Plt. has brought his accon against ye Deft., and prayes order against him for Five hundred pounds of tobo: and cask with all costs and damages; to which the Deft. appeared and pleaded no guilty, And a Jury being Impannelled and sworn to try the truth of ye premisses who Vizt.       Deed. 9 July 1703. Mary Lake relict of Wm Lake deed of Essex ( this name also appears as Leak and Leake) in the deed ) sells John Harper, planter of Essex ( for consideration paid but more especially for said John Harper making over deed for 300 acres to Tho. Harper of Essex ) 471 acres on the head of Piscataway Creek, a part thereof 114 acres formerly granted to said Wm. Lake 21 October 1687 and adjoining Jas Boughan's land, Clay Patch Branch, the plantation of the Widdow Boughan, Mr. Samuel Parry's land, the land of John Jones, etc. Another parcel of the land, 150 acres was formerly sold by James Boughan of Essex Co. decd to Thomas Troath decd and escheated by the said Wm Leak. And another parcel being 103 1/2 acres was formerly purchased by Thomas Harper of Essex Co. decd from Francis Browne of said County decd, and by Harper sold to Tho: Lydall of said County decd, and by said Wm Leak escheated as by inquest-taken by and before Mr. Isaac Alderson, Escheater, the 18 August 1685.
      Another part being 103 1/2 acres being the other-moiety of the 207 acres purchased by the said Tho Harper of the said Francis Browne and was purchased by said Wm Lake from John Jones.
      All of which makes up 471 acres, which by will of Wm Leake was given to Mary Leake the extrx and relict.
