I George Brent of Woodstock in Virga. contemplating the uncertainties of this life do make my last will and testament ., all my worldly estate is to be disposed of .. to my loving Brother NICHOLAS BRENT I give all my land and rights to land given me by my Fathers will in Kingdom of England .. my dwelling house and all the lands & tenements with the appurtenances thereunto belonging according as it is by my Fathers will appointed & bequeathed to me .. also my one thousand acres of land at Nomonie as bequeathed me in my Fathers will .. To my loving Brother ROBERT BRENT I give my land at Quanticott containing 500 acres bought by my Father which JAMES LEATHERLAND is tenement of 200 acres and bequeathed to me by my Fathers will .. also my 555 acres called Budgeon whereon THOMAS THOMPSON is tenement whereas there is a rent charge upon it of 500 pounds of Tobo. per year for three years laid by my Father in his will be paid to ROBT. KINGS widow. Wife MARY WATLINGTON 2 shares in occupation of WM LYNDSAY & FRANCIS WELLMAN in Paget & after her decease to my two nephews, NICHOLAS BRENT, 2nd son of my 1/2 sister, by my father, ELIZABETH, late wife of Capt. GEORGE BRENT, now or late in Potomack in Virginia and to the issue of the said NICHOLAS and for want of said issue to nephew ROBERT BRENT, 3rd son on sister ELIZABETH, and failing issue, to neice ELIZABETH
To wife land in occupation of JOSHUA NASH & after her decease to nephew ROBERT BRENT and if these two nephews and neice should die without issue, these three shares to go to nephew GEORGE BRENT, the eldest son. Robert Carter of Lancaster County having lately made a purchase of 1385 acres upon the upper side of Nominy River conveyed to me by Nicholas Brent of Stafford County, Gent., 30 March [1705], have appointed my good friends Henry Ashton Gent., Daniel Carter Gent. and George Eskridge Gent. of Westmoreland County my attorneys to enter upon the land and receive possession, and to receive the attornment of the tenants who have leases of any part of the land made unto them by George Brent the father or by George Brent the eldest son or by Nicholas Brent the seoond son of George.

Nicholas Brent of Stafford County, Gent., to Robert Carter, Esq., of Lancaster County. For £250. 1385 acres upon the north west side of Nominy River originally granted to John Rozier 14 Jan. 1656 and by Rozier sold unto Edmund Brent and by Edmund bequeathed by his last will 26 March 1658 to his son Edmund who died in his minority whereby the land descended to Katherine Brent sister of the whole blood of Edmund the son, which said Katherine also died in her minority and without issue, whereby the land descended to John Baldero of London, heir at law to Katherine, who died seized thereof without issue, by means whereof the land descended to Arthur Baldero, brother of the whole blood to John Baldero who died seized of the land without heir at law or without making legal disposition of the same, whereupon George Brent of Stafford County, Gent., father of Nicholas Brent and attorney of Arthur Baldero presented the land to the Proprietor's office in the Northern Neck to escheat on 3 July 1691, Mr, Richard Whitehead being Clerk of the office, upon which entry George Brent obtained an escheat deed 1 Oct. 1694 signed by William Fitzhugh, then agent. Forasmuch as in the patent granted originally to John Rozier there is only mention made of 1050 acres but upon a survey made 2 Oct. 1695 by Alexr. Spence there was found 1385 acres, George Brent obtained a second deed of 335 acres surplus land within the bounds 7 Jan. 1695. George Brent died seized in fee and by his last will 24 March 1696 devised the land to his eldest son and heir George Brent who died and by his last will 1 Sept. 1700
devised the same to Nicholas Brent.

Attached is a deed to Robert Carter, that I abstracted today. I went up to check it because Sparacio has an order directing it to be recorded. Sparacio had a major gaff in saying it was 6385 acres which blew my map apart. Orig order was 1385.
DW 3-343, 3/13/1704/5, 1/2/1705/6. NICHOLAS BRENT to ROBERT CARTER. £250 money of England. (2017 $59,477) 1385 acres. On the northwest side of Nomini, originally the land of John Rosier, Clerk by grant of Jan. 14, 1656/7, and sold by Rosier to Edmund Brent "of a good deed executed by said Edmund Brent" devised by will March 26, 1658 to his [Brent’s] son, Edmund, who died in his minority. The land descended to his sister, Katherine "sister of the whole blood to son Edmund." [1662 Katherine patented it Land Office Patents No. 4, 1655-1664, Page 555 (Reel 4).]
Katherine died a minor without issue. The land descended to John Baldero of London, heir at law of Katherine. Baldero entered upon the land. He died seized of it and without issue. "By means whereon said land descended to Arthur Baldero, brother of John Baldero. He entered upon the land and died without an heir at law and without making legal disposition of the land. Whereupon George Brent of Stafford County, father of Nicholas Brent, and attorney of Arthur Baldero presented the land to the Proprietor’s Office for escheat on July 3, 1691. George
Brent received an escheat deed from the Proprietor, signed by William Fitzhugh, agent on October 1, 1694.
The original patent to John Rosier was for 1050 acres. A survey by Alexander Spence on
October 2, 1695 showed 1385 acres. George Brent then received a second patent for the 335 surplus acres on January 7, 1695/6.
George Brent died with a will dated March 24, 1696/7 which devised the land to his eldest son and heir, George Brent. The second George died seized of the land, and by his will of September 1, 1700 devised it to Nicholas Brent, who entered the land.

Butting eastwardly and southerly upon Nominy River, westerly upon the land of Richard Hawkins, northerly upon a small creek called Kings Creek. Source: Northern Neck Grants No. 2, 1694-1700, Page 83-86 (Reel 288). Originally to John Sturman 15 Sept 1651 sold by Sturman to Thos. Youell, who sold to Edmund Brent on 20 July 1655, who by his will of 26 March 1658 passed to his son, Edmund Brent, a minor. His guardian, his mother Rebecca, [Edmund?] entered the premises and died without issue, being a minor and no will. The land descended to his only sister Katherine, who likewise died seized of it during her minority without disposing of it. Rebecca, mother and widow of Edmund (1) entered an escheat. John Balderoe of London, eldest son of Margaret,
sister of Edmund sued Rebecca and her [new] John Frodsham, who then knowing the indubitable right of Balderoe did go for England and Balderoe . . descended to him [Balderoe seized of it] as heir at law [a copy with portions missing] . . . Frodesham, her then husband did by deed sealed and . . . the land to Balderoe. Balderoe died w/o issue and it went to Arthur Balderoe, stationer of London . . . escheated for want of heirs of Arthur. Something about George Brent seeking it [other deed - was in possession of it] and Robert Brent of Stafford paid for it. Grant made to
Robert Brent. Easterly and southerly on Nomini River and westerly upon Richard Hawkins, northerly on a
small creek called Kings Creek, which divides this land and the land of Mr Speake as the original patent granted to Sturman will appear
