Nicholas's wife Mary is the daughter of Rawleigh Travers of Jamestown; Nicholas established his family- Maude Crowe, Descendants from First Families of Maryland and Virginia (1978)(Page 4-8) gives account of their three children, George, Mary (who married Henry King), and Nicholas (jr.)

I'm interested to know the source of the birthdate and birthplace of Nicholas HAILE (HEALE). Also the claim that his wife Mary was a TRAVERS. I haven't found any documentary evidence of any of these items, and Linda Lawhon, who was the Travers researcher par excellence, told me about 10 years ago, "She was *not* the daughter of Rawleigh Travers." Neither Linda nor I ever turned up any solid evidence of Mary -- Haile/Heale's maiden name. If someone has, I'd certainly like to see it.

I am very much inclined to agree with you. When Stephen A. Rhodes very kindly donated his 2004 bound manuscript titled "Descendants of Nicholas Haile and Mary Travers" to the MBWL, we volunteers were admonished by the noted family historian and genealogist Carolyn Jett to use it with extreme caution, most notably due to its very title.
She said there is no evidence that the wife of Nicholas Haile was Mary Travers, and in fact the evidence was overwhelming that she was NOT a Travers at all. I don't remember the exact reasons why, but I am pretty sure it was that the Mary Travers in question is proved to have married somebody else. Don't quote me on this, because I really don't remember Carolyn's exact reasons, but they were very convincing at the time.
