IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen. this 5th day of February Anno Dom: 1739 in the 12th year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the 2nd by the grace of God, King of Great Brittain &c„ I LAURENCE WASHINGTON of Cople Parish in Westmoreland County being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory praised be God for it, and caling to mind the uncertainty of this life on earth and being desirous to settle things in order before I be called hence, do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner & form following; that is to say, first and principally I recommend my Soul to Almighty God my Creator stedfastly believing that by the precious death and merits of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Xt. I shall receive full pardon and free remission of all my sins and obtain everlasting salvation and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such decent and Christian manner as my Exors. hereafter named shall think fitt, and as touching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased the Lord in mercy to endow me with. my will and meaning is that the same shall be employed & bestowed as hereafter in this my Will expressed: And first I do revoke renounce frustrate & make void and of none effect all other Will or Wills by me hereafter & declare and appoint this my Last Will & Testament;
Imprimis. I give and bequath unto my well beloved Son, JOHN WASHINGTON, the half of my Land to him and his heirs forever
Item. I give & bequath unto my Son, JAMES WASHINGTON and Son, THOMAS WASHINGTON the other half of my land to be equally divided betwixt them, to them and their heirs forever
Item. I give my dear Wife all my movable Estate as long as she lives and then for it to be equally divided among my Children
Item My Will is that if my Son, JOHN WASHINGTON, shall die without an heir lawfully begotten of his body, that his part of land should return to my Son, JAMES WASHINGTON, & his heirs forever; And at that time my Son, THOMAS WASHINGTON, to have the part of land I left to my Son, JAMES WASHINGTON, but in case they all live and have heirs lawfully begotten of their bodies, for it all to stand as is aforementioned in my Will, & if my Son. JAMES WASHINGTON, should die without an heir lawfully begotten, for my Son, THOMAS WASHINGTON, to inheritt his part of land; And if my Son, THOMAS WASHINGTON., should die without heir lawfully begotten of his body, for his part of land aforementioned to return to my Son, JAMES WASHINGTON.
In Witness whereof I the said LAURENCE WASHINGTON to this Last Will and Testament do nominate and appoint my Dear Wife, ELIZABETH WASHINGTON, my Exor, of this my Last Will & Testament, as witness my hand and seal the day & year above mentioned Signed Sealed & Delivered in the presence of us

This Last Will and Testament of LAURENCE WASHINGTON, deced., was presented into
Court by ELIZABETH, his Relict and Exrx., who made Oath thereto, & being proved by the Oaths of the witnesses thereto is admitted to Record; And upon the motion of the said Exrx. and her performing what is usual in such cases, Certificate is granted her for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form
