1779-1785 - Peter Noe, ancient, is on the list of poor persons
supported by Lexington Parish, Amherst Co., Va. in May 1779,
      Aug. 1783, May 1784, and Mar. 1785.

Comment: Peter is not on the 1780-1782 lists. Rebecca
Noe, ancient, is on these lists continuously from 1779-1785,
that is she is also shown in the years 1780-1782 when Peter
      is not.
Each year's list is a short list of 10-15 names. Peter
and Rebecca are separately Ilamed on these lists. This is
significant because there are many entrles on these lists
such as "John Jones and wife," that is, husband and wife
were not separately listed as are Peter and Rebecca. From
this we would conclude that Peter and Rebecca were not married
      to each other.
Peter and Rebecca are the only known Noes in Amherst Co.
durIng the period 1779-1785 but other Noes had been there
      earlier
