In the name of God amen. Whereas I William Riding of the Parish of Hanover and County of King George intend God willing in a few days to sail for the West Indies (Martinico); from whence perhaps I may never return, I think proper to make my last Will and Testament which I do in the following manner
Imprimis. It is my Will and desire that in this my last Will and Testament my Wife, my Daughter Betsy Murdock Riding, & the Child that my wife is now big with, shall inherit equally of what I now possess, of what kind soever.
Item. It is my Will and desire that should either my wife or the two children above mentioned die without lawful heirs that then the surviving two shall share equally my whole possession of ev'ry kind.
Item, It is my Will and desire, should both of my said children die without lawful heirs, that then my Wife have all my Estate during her natural life, and after her decease and the decease of the two above mentioned children without lawful heirs, that then it is my Will and desire that my Estate be equally divided between the sons then living of Daniel Lovell lawfully begotten in my mother Elizabeth Lovell and further it is my Will and desire that all Debts that may be due or hereafter become due to me when collected shall be equally divided between my two children above mentioned or the survivor of them and in case each of them should die without lawful Issue, that then my wife shall have and enjoy the money arising from my Debts as aforesaid, and dispose of in such manner as she shall think proper and
Lastly I constitute and appoint my loving wife Salley Riding whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament.~
In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of February in the year of our lord One thousand seven hundred and Eighty six.~

The 2nd day of April 1789~
The last Will and Testament of Wm. Riding decd.(as aforegoing) was then presented into Court by Salley Riding** the Executrix therein named, who made Oath thereto according to Law, and being proved by the Oaths of Francis Thornton, and Wm. Marshall two of the witnesses thereto, was Ordered to be Recorded, & at another Court held for the same County the 1st day of October, 1789.
On motion of the sd. Executrix hav.g failed to give a Bond with sufficient security as directed by law Benja. Johnson Admin with the sd. Will
annexed was granted to him, who after taking the Oath appointed by law entered into Bond with Wm Boon & Lawr. Balthrop his securities in the sum of Two thousand pounds for the faithful admins of sd. Estate

** Salley Riding is the daughter of Joseph Murdock and Mary Tankersley Murdock.
Mary Murdock in her will dated October 5, 1783 names her daughter, Sarah Riding and her child. Joseph Murdock's will dated October 11, 1769 refers to his daughter, Sally.

Indenture made 3rd December 1764 between DANIEL RIDING county King George and JOSEPH JONES of Spotsylvania County .. Whereas Daniel Riding by virtue of his intermarriage with ELIZABETH his wife is become possessed of a parcel of land in county King George known by name of Moons and hath agreed to sell same to Joseph Jones. These Presents Therefore Witnesseth that Daniel Riding and Elizabeth his wife for sum One hundred pounds current money sold said parcel of land containing 260 acres bounded by River Rappahannock the land of the Honourable JOHN TAYLOE Esquire and the land of the late JOHN TALIAFERRO deceas'd ..

THIS INDENTURE made the fifth day of December one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven Between DANIEL LOVELL and ELIZA: his Wife of the Parish of CAMDEN in County of PITTSYLVANIA of one part and AARON WEBB of Parish of DRISDALE in County of CAROLINE of other part; Witnesseth that DANIEL LOVELL and ELIZA: his Wife for sum of Fifty pounds current money of Virginia in hand paid by these presents doth bargain and sell unto AARON WEBB & to his heirs all that parcel of land situate in Parish of Hanover and County of King George containing by estimation One hundred and fifty acres more or less and bounded, Beginning on the line of MOSES PITMAN, thence along the said PITMANs line to lines of Capt. SAMUEL OLDHAM, thence along the lines of said OLDHAMs Land to the line of WILLIAM DODGIN, thence along the lines of said DODGIN to the line of DANIEL RIDING, deced., thence along the said RIDINGs lines to the beginning, it being the property of SAMUEL MOON deced., and all houses profits and advantages to the same belonging; To have and to hold the land and premises unto AARON WEBB his heirs and DANIEL LOVELL &ELIZA: his Wife for themselves their heirs doth agree with AARON WEBB his heirs that they will well and truly defend the land unto AARON WEBB his heirs against themselves and their heirs; In Witness whereof the said DANIEL LOVELL and ELIZA: his Wife hath to this Indenture set their hands & seals the day month and year first before written

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I WILLIAM RIDING of County of King George being possessed in full right & title of the reversion expectation on the death of my Mother, ELIZABETH LOVELL, of the five following slaves, viz: Eve and her four Children, Randolph, Cornea, Joe & Clary, which slaves her present Husband. DANIEL LOVELL, and herself hold in right of her Dower to my Father, her late Husbands Estate, in consideration of Five hundred pounds specie of the currencey of this State in hand paid by DANIEL LOVELL do hereby relinquish bargain & sell all my right and title to the reversion of the slaves unto DANIEL LOVELL his heirs &c., and hereby warrant and hind myself to defend the several & secure the full right and title to said slaves in fee simple in consideration 01 said LOVELL and his heirs in full bare- of all claims & demands on the part of myself my heirs, &c , In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 31st day of July 1782
