I, Ann Maria Parnham of CC, for natural affection and divers other considerations, I give all my real and personal estate as follows, viz, to my brother, John Parnham, all my personal estate and Negroes, cattle, money, and clothes. If I die within 2 years or shall settle abroad for good and not return to Maryland, likewise, I give to my sister, Elizabeth Craycroft's eldest daughter, if she shall have any, or if she shall have no female child, to my Sister Craycroft herself during her natural life or until her eldest daughter shall marry or come to age 21, my tract of land, bought of Gates, and lying in CC, but in default of such issue, after her death, the land shall immediately go to my brother, John Parnham. I also give my tract of land in Piccawaxen [Piccowaxen] neck, whereon James Freeman lives, to the eldest daughter or female child, at present born or shall be born of my Br, Francis Parnham, and in case of default of such issue, to my Br Francis Parnham. My Br John Parnham is to have the profit of the above mentioned lands, until the conditions shall be complied with, or sum hereafter mentioned, shall be paid within 1.6 years. If the sum required be not raised from the profits of sd land and Negroes, then a sale of sd Negroes or land shall be made towards raising that sum, at the discretion of my Br, John, and the party to whom sd land is before granted. My brother, John Parnham obliges himself to pay me 200 £sterling within 3 ½ years, or 1 ½ years if required and demanded by me. If I die before I've settled for good abroad, then in place of paying the above mentioned sum, 200 £, all other debts and charges paid, to give to the poor 10 £ster. After 200 £sterling is paid out of the above mentioned estate, I oblige each party to whom this gift and grant is made, to allow me, during my natural life, each one, a guinea per ann., that is, in all, 3 guineas to be paid to me yearly. Page 573. Recorded Jul 28, 1742. I, Anna Maria Parnham of CC, spinster, for natural affection and divers other good causes, have granted all my real and personal estate as follows, that is to say, to my brother, John Parnham of CC, all my personal estate, whether in Negroes, cattle, money, or other goods, on this proviso: if I die within the next 2 years or settle abroad and not return again to Maryland, I grant to the eldest daughter of my sister, Elizabeth Craycroft, which she shall have at the time of her death, & if she shall have no female child, to her eldest son, my tract of land I bought of Joseph Gates, and lying in CC, & if she has issue, to that issue, in fee simple, and in case she dies without any, then the same land to revert to my brother, Mr. John Parnham. Likewise, I hereby give the tract of land in Piccawaxon [Piccowaxen] Neck where James Freeman now lives, to the eldest daughter of my brother, Mr. Francis Parnham, which he shall have at the time of his death, & if he shall have no female child, to his eldest son, & in case my sd brother has issue, to that issue in fee simple, & in case he dies without issue, then to my brother, John Parnham in fee simple. My brother John Parnham is to have the use of all my estate and the several gifts are not to take place but on the following conditions, viz, that if the rents, issues, and profits of my real and personal estate shall, within 3.5 years from the date hereof at the farthest or, if I have a necessity for it, within 1.5 years, from the said date, raise 200 £ster. to be disposed of & paid for the use of sd Anna Parham, then the afd dispositions to be absolute. But if the real and personal estate cannot raise the 200 £within 1.5 years, the same money should be demanded, then I hereby authorize my brother, John Parnham, to sell any or all of sd real & personal estate. I further authorize John to sell the 2 lots, and the rest of my estate to be valued, & the whole loss to be borne by my sd 2 brothers and sister so that the person whose land is sold may be reimbursed two thirds of its value. John Parnham obliges himself to pay to me, for my use, the 200 £ster. within 3.5 years, if I have a need for it, within 1.5 years. If I die before settling abroad for good, then, instead of paying the 200 £ster., he is to pay only all my other debts which I really owe, & give to the poor 10 £ster, & the several gifts to remain to the several persons as before expressed. The several gifts are to take effect if John Parham, Francis Parham, & Clemt Craycroft shall be liable and chargeable with the payment of 1 £1 shilling ster yearly, each, during my natural life. If sd money is paid without selling either of the tracts of land, then my brother Francis, and sister Craycroft, to have possession thereof. Signed Jul 20, 1742 - Anna Maria Parnham, John Parnham.
