      In the name of God amen... I John Marshall of the County Nelson & State of Kentucky being in perfect health but calling to mind the uncertainty of human life, do make and ordain this my last will and testament (that is to say) principally & first of all I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty god who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth from whence it came and as touching such ____ Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life. I give _____ and dispose of the same in the following manner Amen Viz.

      I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Marshall the sum of five shillings current money of Kentucky.
      I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ellinder Williams the like sum of five shillings like money.
      I give and bequeath unto my son Mark Marshall the like sum of five shillings like money and all my remaining clothes.
      I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Blues ? the like sum of five shillings like money.
      I give and bequeath unto my son John Marshall the like sum of five shillings like money.
      I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Chambers the one half of my Estate of lands Money or stock or what ever it may consist of after paying the aforesaid legacies and ____.
      I give and bequeath unto my wife Margaret Marshall the other half my estate whatever it may consist of after paying the legacies as was said before for use and benefit forever to be by here truly possessed and enjoyed.
      I also _____ and appoint George Burkhead to be my sole executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke and discount all and every other former testament, will, legacies, Bequeaths, and executed by me in any wise mentioned wills and bequeaths Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of July one thousand eight hundred.

      NB It is my plan that Jesse [Williams ? smudged] my grandson should have a horse saddle and bridle out of my estate before it is _____ and in the manner mentioned above

      At a County Court held for Nelson County on Monday the 9th day of November 1801 This last Will and Testament of John Marshall dec'd was proved by the oaths of Robert Stewart Paulcarh Davies & Joseph Richardson subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded.
