      Sherod/Sherwood James
      He lived in Montgomery (now Smyth) County, Virginia, in 1781, when he served in Captain William Love's Militia Company; in 1782 he paid taxes on 300 acres, two horses, and seven cattle. He bought land on the South Fork of the Holston River from Joseph Heck in 1803; nine acres from Zachariah Plankenpicker, and 100 acres from Joseph Williams, both in 1807, 244 acres in Rye Valley from Willis Morgan and 40 acres from John and Ezekiel James on December 14, 1816, both on the South Fork of the Holston River.

      Nancy James/Williams (b. 11/21/1776)
      In 1818, Nancy and her husband, James, sold their share of the Sherrod James estate to John and James James. They lived in Barren County, Kentucky, in July 1830, when they sold land in the Barrens to John Masters for $600.00. 260 acres at Pilot Knob to William Menefee and Haratio Thompson for $780.00, and 400 acres on the waters of Little Barren River, including Knob Lick Grove, to William Austin Allen for $1,200.00.
