      The will of Charles Taliaferro, St. Mary's Par., Caroline County, Virginia, dat. Mar. 2, 1734, wit. by Thomas Slaughter and Wm. Berry, and owned by Dr. A. G. Grinnan, gives wife Mary 300 a. of tract on which he lives with 7 negroes, household goods and live stock.
      To gr. dau. Mary Taliaferro 200 a. Spots. Co. and a negro girl.
      To gr. dau. Sarah Taliaferro 100 a. of home place after wife's death, and adjoining lands of said Sarah, and one negro.
      To gr. dau. Catherine Taliaferro, the remaining 200 a. of same after wife's death, and one negro.
      To dau.-in-law Sarah Taliaferro one negro man. Residue of est. to his three. gr. daus., Mary, Sarah, and Catherine Taliaferro equally, or dying before they come of age, to his dau.-in-law Sarah Taliaferro. Names wife, and Francis Thornton, Spots. County, Exrs.

      Whereas Charles Taliaferro, the Elder, late of the Co. of Caroline, died, seized and possessed of a tract of land in a place called Motts, and by his last will and testament, dated March 2, 1734, bequeathed the same to his granddaughters, Mary and Sarah Taliaferro, the sd. Mary intermarried with Thomas Turner, Junr., and the sd. Sarah intermarried with sd. Francis Conway, etc., sd. parties for 120 curr. sell the 570 a. to the sd. Allan, etc. No witnesses. Nov. 7, 1749.

      THIS INDENTURE made the Eleventh/Twelfth day of September in ye year 1723 Between CHARLES TALIAFERRO of Essex County of one part & THOMAS CASH of same County Witnesseth that said Charles Taliaferro for sum of Ten Pounds Sterling to him paid, have sold unto said Thomas Cash & to his heirs one hundred acres (of land) being part of a Pattent granted to the aforesaid Charles Taliaferro lying back of a Pattent called SOLOMONS GARDEN & joyning to a Pattent of JOHN HAYS the sd Hundred acres of land beginning at the Southwermost corner of the sd Taliaferro's Pattent being a red oak & two hickorys thence with the line of said Pattent North to two red oaks thence South to a white oak in ye afsd Hays line thence with his line South to his Corner being a Spanish Oak & two red oaks still the same course to the beginning place all which premises are now in the actual possession of said Thomas Cash by Virtue of the Statute for Tansferring uses into possession ... .

      THE CONDITION of this obligation is such that bounden Charles Taliaferro shall at all times hereafter fulfill and keep all covenants contain'd in the sd Indenture according to the true intent & meaning thereof then this Obligation to be Void or else to remain in full force n presence of JNO BATTAILE, Charles Taliaferro

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I CHARLES TALIAFERRO of Saint Mary's Parish in County of Essex Planter for divers good causes but more especially for the paternal affection I bear to my only Son CHARLES and to advance and provide his welfare in this world I have granted my Son Charles & his heirs for ever these thirteen Negro slaves following Viz. Seven named Gore, Primus, Will, Cromwell, Hunter, Adam & Prime & Six women Viz. Jenny, Grace, Kate, Eve, Venus & Daphne, and I do also further grant two Seats or tracts of land both lying in St. Marys Parish in the County of Essex and containing Six hundred acres being the residue of a pattent the other part of which is already by me sold which pattent bears date ye Second day of November in the year 1705 granted to me for 1000 acres, and also 200 acres of land lying on ye upper side of the Plantation whereon I now live land which I formerly purchased of RICHARD JOHNSON and SAMUEL PROSSER. In Witness whereof I have set my hand this fifteenth day of February in the year 1724
