Unto my well beloved wife Ann whom I constitute executrix, £30 current money and her own feather bed and furniture.
To my son Thomas my Negro than named Robin but in case either of my wife's two Negroes that was willed to her by her former husband Thomas Meades should die, my wife keep Negro Roben during her natural life and after her decease to my son Thomas.
My Negro woman named Jude to my daughter Sarah excepting. the following issue vizt. the first born live child to my son Samuel when it is a year old, the second born live child to my child unborn when it is a year old, the third to my daughter Anne at a year old, the remainder to my daughter Sarah.
My Negro boy Jame to my son Samuell.
To my son Thomas my land that I bought of John Hodgson being executor of Thomas Pathross.
To my son Samuell my land that I bought of Mathew Collins lying on the side of Pewmensend swamp.
Unto my beloved wife her third part of my personall estate and the remainder to be equally divided amongst my children.
To my daughter Florendar one gold ring.
To John Harris my gunn that he hath now in possession.
My boys live and remain with my beloved wife till they attain to the age of twenty years, but not to have possession of their estates till they be twenty one years. My girls live and remain with my beloved wife till they attain to the age of eighteen years or marriage. But in case my wife should marry another husband and my children can prove that they are not well used they then shall have their liberties to go and chuse their guardians.

The Condition of ye obligation is such that if ye above bound John Hodson Admr. of all the goods chattles creditts of THOS. AYRES decd do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all the goods chattles creditts of ye sd decd the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited in the County Court of Essex at such time as he shall be required by the sd Court & further do make a just and true account of his actings anddoings therein when thereto required by the sd Court and provided if it shall hereafter appear that any last Will and Testament was made by the sd decd & the Exc. or Exrs. named do exhibit the same in the sd Court making requrest to have it allowed & approved Accordingly if the sd John being thereunto required do deliver up his Letters of Adm: approbation of such Testament being first had & made in the sd Court Then this obligation to be void and of none effect . . .

Will of Thomas Meades of the County of Essex and Parish of Saint Annes, being sick and weak in body, dated 29 Jan. 1716/17.
To my well beloved wife Anne Meades my two oldest Negroes, viz. Sambo and Nanney, during her natural life and after my wife's decease to return to my well beloved son John Meades. But if my said son should dye before he is possessed with the said Negroes then to Thomas Coghill son of Frederick Coghill and Sarah his wife.
To my loving wife Anne Meades the plantation whereon I now dwell and two hundred acres of land during her life, and after to my said son John Meades and if my said son should dye without issue before he comes to the age of twenty one years then to Richard Ship.
To my son John Meades my young Negro called Sarai and one mollatto called Tom Cutte'r and if my said son should dye without issue to my brother in law John Sallis.
To my son John Meades one case of bottles and one iron kettle.
To my said son one young gray mare.
To my said son all my land at Powmonsend except one hundred acres which I give John Sallis. If my said son dye without issue then to be equally divided amongst Wm. Davis, Josias Ship and Thomas Ship.
All the rest of my personal estate to be divided between my said wife and my said son.

THIS INDENTURE made the Fifteenth day of March 1735 Between JOHN HUDSON of St. Anns Parish in County of Essex Planter & MARTHA his Wife of the one part and MUNGO ROY of the same Parish and County Witnesseth that the said John that is to say One hundred and fifty acres on Blackburns Creek (formerly called Lucas's Creek) which WILLIAM HODGSON als HUDSON (Grandfather of the sd John) purchased of VALENTINE ALLEN And one other tract of land containing Twenty five acres for which the said William obtained a Patent bearing date the 24th day of September 1668 according to their respective bounds, And all surplus land within any of the said bounds (Except Sixty five acres part of the said One hundred and fifty acres) sold by John Hodgson als Hudson (Father of the sd John party to these presents) to THOMAS AYRES & by him since sold to the said Mungo Roy & another part thereof supposed to contain about Thirty acres by the last Will and Testament of the said John the Father devised to JOSIAS SHIP and ELIZABETH his Wife & their heirs. which Elizabeth is now in possession

John Hudson acknowledged this Indenture with the receipt & Livery & Seizen thereon endorsed to be his act & deed & then John Mercer, Daniel Gaines and Edward Vawter made oath that they did see Martha Hudson sign seal and deliver this Indenture with the receipt thereon to Mun go Roy gent as her act and deed and that they did see the said Mungo Roy gent put in full and peaceable possession of the land & premises within mentioned which on his motion is admitted to record.
At a Court held for Essex County at Tapp& on the XXth day of April MDCCXXXVI Martha Hudson one of the parties to these presents (being first privily examined by BENJAMIN WINSLOW gent) did freely acknowledge this Indenture with the Endorsements thereto to Mungo Roy gent to be her act and deed which is admitted to record.
