The will of Samuel Amery Sr. Jun 3, 1777.
I, Samuel Amery of CC, am infirm of body.
To my wife Mary Amery - all my moveable estate during her natural life or while she remains my widow, and after her death or marriage, to be disposed of as follows -
To my son John Amery - 3 Negroes, viz, Ignatius, Aaron, and Esther, with her future increase. Also a walnut desk and the best walnut chest. But John is not to receive this legacy who discharges me and my executrix as security for him to Capt George Dent and Mr. Barnet Barber 1n 2 separate bonds amounting to 100 £sterling and not then til the death of my wife Mary. I also give him my sorrel horse and the largest oval table, a feather bed and furniture.
To my son Samuel Amery - 3 Negroes, viz, Rebecca, with her future increase, Roswell, and Rice. Also 3 walnut chairs, a walnut cupboard, and the largest walnut chest, and the still with the appurtenances belonging thereto. Also, my smallest oval table and my riding saddle and best hat. Also cloth and trimmings for a coat.
To my daughter Margaret Cartwright - 3 Negroes, viz, a man named Alexander and a woman named Jane, with her future increase from today, and a girl named Kate, with her future increase.
To my daughter Lydia Wood - a Negro boy named David, a Negro woman named Hannah, and a Negro girl named Terry, with their future increase,
To my daughter Eleanor Swann - 3 Negroes, viz, a boy named William, a girl named Charity, and a girl named Muriel, with their future increase.
To my grandson Samuel Amery Swann - my young gray mare, foaled Apr 20, 1770.
To my grandson Walter Mackcon - all my wearing apparel
except my hat and saddle and bridles.
To my granddaughters Dorcas Mackcon and Mary Mackcon and Elizabeth Mackcon and to my grandson Walter Mackcon - 1 shilling sterling each and no more.
To my 5 children, viz, John Amery, Samuel Amery, Margret Cartwright, Lydia Wood, and Eleanor Swann - after the death of my wife Mary, all my moveables and household stuff and all my stock, such as horse flesh, cattle, hogs, and sheep that are not already disposed of, and an old Negro woman named Kate (that is, everything remaining at the death of my wife), to be equally divided among them_

On Jun 3, 1777 came Samuel Turner and Charles Montgomery, witnesses of the afd will of Samuel Amery, deceased, and made oath that they saw the testator sign sd will.

The Will of Mary Amery
I, Mary Amery of CC, am infirm of body but in perfect and sound memory.
To my son Samuel Amery the plantation whereon I now live, it being part of a tract of land called Watsons Choice.
To my dau Margaret Cartwright one stuff gown and one black shaile.
To my dau Lydia Wood one black silk bonnet.
To my dau Eleanor Swan one black cotton velvet cloak.
To my granddaughter Dorcas Dement one checked cotton gown.
To my granddaughter Mary Marhon one striped cotton gown and one new striped cotton short gown.
To my granddaughter Elizabeth Davis my Cost country cloth gown.
To my granddaughter Mary Amery one yellow striped gown, one white handkerchief.
The rest of my wearing apparel is to be equally divided among my afd three daus and four granddaus.
