      Prince William Soldiers in the Prince William County Court Minutes 1778-1784
      In April 1781, William Farrow was appointed a captain for the company lately commanded by James Triplett who had resigned. In the same month, the court ordered the churchwardens of Dettingen Parish to bind out William Gunyon, orphan of John Gunyon deceased. John Gunyon had died in February 1779, while in Continental service.

      THIS INDENTURE made the (Lease the Sixth)(Release the Seventh) day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and sixty three Between JAMES TRIPLETT of the County of Prince William and HUBBARD PRINCE of said County of Prince William; Witnesseth that the said JAMES TRIPLETT for the sum of (in Lease Five Shillings) (in Release Twenty pounds) current money of Virginia to said JAMES TRIPLETT in hand paid by HUBBARD PRINCE he hath granted and sold unto said HUBBARD PRINCE One loft or half acre of land being in the TOWN of DUMFRIES on WATER STREET numbered Eighty One which Lott was conveyed unto said JAMES TRIPLETT by the Trustees of the said TOWN of DUMFRIES and recorded in the Clerks Office in Prince William County, And all houses, buildings orchards waters profits commodities and appurtenances whatsoever to said premises granted or any part thereof belonging, And the Reversion and Reversions, Rents, issues profits thereof; and also all the Estate Right and Demand whatsoever of him said JAMES TRIPLETT to said Premises and all Deeds touching, concerning the same; To have and to hold the said Lott or half acre of land unto said HUBBARD PRINCE his heirs and assigns forever And said JAMES TRIPLETT for himself doth promise that at time of sealing and delivery of these presents he is seized of a good Estate of Inheritance in fee simple of premises granted, And that said premises shall remain clear from all former gifts, grants, sales & title of Dower, Trouble and In cumbran ces whatsoever and lastly that said JAMES TRIPLETT and his heirs will arrant and forever defend by these presents, In Witness whereof said JAMES TRIPLETT hereunto set his hand & Seal the day and year first above mentioned in the presence of JAS.       THIS INDENTURE made the 28th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Sixty One Between ALLAN MACRAE and JAMES DOUGLASS gentlemen Directors and Trustees for the TOWN of DUMFRIES in the County of Prince William of one part and JAMES TRIPLETT of the other part Witnesseth that said ALLAN MACRAE & JAMES DOUGLASS for the sum of Twelve pounds Five shillings have sold unto said JAMES TRIPLETT his heirs and assigns one lots or half acre of land in the said TOWN numbred Eighty One To Have and To Hold the said Lott provided said JAMES TRIPLETT shall within two years build and finish one house of Brick, Stone or well framed Timber twenty feet Square and Nine feet pitched at the least and place the same according to the direction of the said Trustees. In Witness whereof the said Trustees have set their hands and seals at Court continued and held for Prince William County the 25 day of November 1761 ALLAN MACRAE and JAMES DOUGLASS gent two of the Trustees for the TOWN of DUMFRIES acknowledged this Deed to JAMES TRIPLETT and the same was admitted to record

      Triplett to Berkley Indenture
      This indenture made this 6th day of October 1787 between James Triplett of the County of Westmoreland of the one part and John Berkley of the said county of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James Triplett in consideration of 11,000 pounds of crop tobacco and cask in hand has sold unto John Berkley all that tract of land lying in the Parish of Washington and County of Westmoreland, bounded as follows; beginning at a post corner to a parcel of land now in the possession of James Taite and Walter James extending thence East North East 160 poles to another post standing by or near Jett’s line, thence North 17° West 105 poles to a red oak saplin near a branch, thence northerly down the said branch crossing Jett’s line to a crooked maple standing on the edge of a run, it being a parcel of land that Francis James sold to John Price out of Jett’s patent, thence from the crooked maple South 65° West 31 ½ poles to a chesnut standing in Jett’s line, thence along Jett’s line South 43° West 64 poles to Major Underwood’s line, thence South South East 45 poles to a white oak standing by a branch, thence up the said branch westerly to a red oak near the main road that leads to King George court commonly called the Ridge Road, thence South 17° East to the beginning; including 120 acres and 29 poles, 105 acres formerly belonging to Francis Triplett and the other part, 15 acres and 29 poles part of Jett’s patent sold by Francis James unto the said John Price. In witness whereof the said James Triplett hath to this indenture set his hand and seale the day and year first above written.
