      8 April 1722. Will of Garrett Oneale of Washington Parish, being sick and weak in body. Presented on 28 April 1722 by Henry Washington, executor and proved by the oaths of the witnesses. Recorded 7 May 1722. Legatees:
      (1) to daughter-in-law Elizabeth Butler, "my horse and mare which she likes best and the saddle and bridle;
      (2) to son Garret Oneale "my plantation and orchard as far as the new Bridge and right across to the cattail Branch;
      (3) to son John Oneale "all the remainder of the land from the Bridge cross to the cattail branch along the branch to the line of John Mothershead, and a negro boy named Sambo;"
      (4) if either son dies without lawful heirs, their part to go to daughter Elinor Oneale;
      (5) "It is my desire that they sell none of their land nor change except it from one to the other;"
      (6) to "my two sons" all moveable estate to be equally divided, but that they shall give my four daughters when they arrive to age 18 forty shillings each, or otherwise come in for an equal part;
      (7) "beloved friend" Henry Washington executor "over all my children and their estates that they should not want nor deal and inbardle the estate nor bargain with any person without the leave of my Executor;"
      (8) "if Elizabeth Butler their sister has a mind to take any of the children to live with her no one shall hinder her." Signed by signature.

      Mary Mottershead, relict of Brookes Mottershead, made oath that Brookes departed this life without makeing (sic) any will so farr (sic) as she knows or believes. Certificate is granted her for obtaining letters of administration, Garrat Oneale assuming to be security. Ordered that Wm: Quissenbury, Humphrey Pope, Christopher Butler and Humphrey Quissenbury appraises the estate in money.

      THIS INDENTURE made the 18th day of July in the year of our Lord God 1740 Between GARRETT ONEAL and SARAH his Wife of one part and JAMES FIELD of Westmoreland County and Parish of Washington of other part; Witnesseth that GARRETT ONEAL and SARAH his Wife in consideration of the sum of 5/ current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by JAMES FIELD, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto JAMES FIELD all that parcell of land containing Fifty acres more or less given by the Last Will and Testament. of GARRETT ONEAL, deced.. bearing date the 8th day of April 1722 to his Son JOHN ONEAL who acknowledged his right unto the GARRETT ONEAL. party to these presents; To have and to hold the the parcell of land and premises unto JAMES FIELD his heirs during the term of one whole year paying therefor the rent of one Pepper Corn if lawfully demanded to the intent that by virtue of these presents and of the Statute for transfering uses into possession, JAMES FIELD may be in the actual possession of the premises and be thereby enabled to take a release of the inheritance thereof to him and his heirs.
