Reports of William w. Hening on sundry claims 12 Nov. 1800: [Page 79]
James Taylor, Orange. £46.9.6, open account, and £52.15.4, deduction of war interest, James Ritchie & Co. (Fredericksburg Store). He removed to Kentucky about nine months ago in very good circumstances. He now lives in Nelson County, very able to pay his debts. He had been clerk of Orange County for many years before his removal. He often applied to me to know whether these two demands were in my possession. He observed he had paid off the bonded debt and was willing to pay what was due upon the account but that he did not owe what was demanded of him. He was very anxious to have a settlement with this company]
