      Awbrey's Will
      In the name of God Amen I Chandler Awbrey of the County of Westmoreland and parish of Cople, planter being sick and weak of body but of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following.
      In the first place I give my body to the earth from whence it came
      Item I order my body to be buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named.
      Item I order all my just debts be first paid.
      Item I give and bequest all my land to my son James Sorrell Awbrey and his heirs forever but if my said son should die before he arrives to the age of 21 years or without heirs of his body lawfully begotten I give my land and plantation whereon I now live to my daughter [[missing] Awbrey and her heirs
      Item I give [missing] estate to be kept together until my eldest daughter arrives at the age of 18 years or days of marriage and then a division to be made among my children and is my further will and desire that my wifes dower Negroes be equally divided among my children when she dies.
      Item I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth what the law gives her in the horse she generally brides in the saddle and bridle and mourning ring of 20 shillings Sterling value in in full of her dower.
      It is my will and desire that my wife should take her thirds out of my lands upon the plantation were I now live
      Item I give and bequeath to my sister Hannah McCauley the suit of mourning.
      Item I give and bequeath to my niece Mary McCauley a suit of mourning.
      Item I give and bequeath to Mrs. Martha Atwell a suit of mourning.
      Item I give and bequeath unto Mrs. Elizabeth Atwell a suit of mourning.
      Item I give and bequeath to Miss Sarah Atwell a a suit of mourning.
      Item it is my will and desire that my children be educated and maintained out of my estate suitable to their situations.
      Lastly I do constitute and appoint my wife friends Richard Lee Esq., Mr. Daniel Tebbs and Mr. Spencer Arriss executors and my wife Elizabeth Awbrey executrix of this my last will and testament.
      In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of December in the year of our Lord Christ 1755.

      The last will and testament of Chandler Awbrey signed sealed and delivered in published in the presence of Richard Lee, Gabriel Johnston, Henry Allison, James Balfour

      At a Court held for the said County on the 28th day of September 1756 this will was presented into Court by Elizabeth Awbrey (the relict of the deceased) and Richard Lee, Esq. two of the executors therein named who made oath thereto and the same being also proved by the oath of Richard Lee, Henry Allison and James Balfour three the witnesses thereto who ordered to be recorded and on motion of the said executors and their performing what the law in such cases require a certificate is granted them for obtaining [probate] thereof in due form
