(3) Page 58 Two entries beneath John Halley is the neighbor: Hezekiah Athey (age 38), males age 15, 9, 4 and wife Rebecca (age 40) females age 10, 2. No slaves. (Notice that the Benjamin & Hezekiah are both sons of Thomas Athey b. 1688. William A. Athey does not appear to have lived close by.)

You Hezekiah Athey, Josias Lanham and William Jenkins do confess judgment to Mary Green for the sums of 16,000 pounds crop tobacco debt and 396 pounds of tobacco costs which sums were recovered on August 24th last to be levied on your goods chattles lands or tenements for the use of Mary Green in case Hezekiah Athey and Josias Lanham shall not pay and satisfy the said sum and costs thereon on February 10th next. I Hezekiah Athey and Josias Lanham, planters in consideration of 8000 pounds of crop tobacco paid by William Jenkins, carpenter have sold 1 roan horse, 1 gray mare, 1 black mare, 1-2 year old grey colt, 1 sorrel mare, 1 black 1-year-old colt, 2 cows and one yearling, 2 female Negro child near 2 years old, 2 feather beds and furniture, 1 chest and 2 tables, Negroes Big Harry, Little Harry and Nan, and 1 sorrel horse . In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this December 14, 1784, as the Hezekiah Athey, Josias Lanham in the presence of and acknowledged before David Craufurd, Samuel Hepburn
