Francis Edelen, Will, October 7, 1826; March 16, 1830
I, Francis Edelen of CC, being in ill health of body, but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding;
To son William Edelen, part of tract "Simpson Supply" beginning at a corner post near a large poplar tree standing on the west side of a run passing through Cooksey's land, commonly called the Mill Swamp … intersects the line of "Calverts Hope".
To wife Sarah Edelen, the tract of land whereon I now live called "Edelens Amendent Resurvyed" together with that part of "Simpsons Supply" not bequeathed to my son William Edelen during her natural life, and then to my son Francis Hoskins Edelen reserving half of the dwelling house for my daughters Kitty Edelen and Mary Boarman and her children for and during their single lives.
To son Edward Edelen in trust for the benefit of his sister Kitty Edelen the following negroes; Charles, Harry and Cecilia.
To wife Sarah Edelen, the rest and residue of my estate both real personal and mixed.

I, Richard Edelen of CC, being in a low and weak state of body but of sound mond and disposing memory and judgment;
To brother Francis Edelen the whole of the lands, tenements, and real estate, provided he will and does pay the following legacies;
To brother Edward Edelen, 80 pounds current money
To brother Osward Edelen, 170 pounds
To brother Leonard Edelen, 200 pounds
To brother Philip Edelen, 80 pounds
To sister Aminta Knott, 20 pounds
To sister Elizabeth Knott, 20 pounds

Charles County Land Record Book G#3, 1756-1761; Page 409. Lease. Mar 1, 1760 from Bennet Wathen of CC, planter, to Edward Edelen of CC, planter, for divers good causes and especially for the good opinion he has for sd Edward Edelen, the lease of one half of a water mill, now the property of and in the possession of sd Wathen. The water mill is on Piles Fresh in CC. Edelen may have free use of the timber and land appropriated and laid out for the use of sd mill, that is to say, to keep sd mill from time to time in repair. Edelen gets the profits of the mill. The duration of this lease is, from today, for three lives: the life of sd Edward Edelen, the life of Susanah Edelen, his wife, and the life of Francis Edelen, son of sd Edward Edelen, and the life of the longest liver of them to be fully complete and ended. The yearly rent is 1 ear of Indian corn each Jan 1, if demanded. Edelen will keep his half of the mill in repair for grinding, and to be at one half of the charges, provided Wathen shall also keep his part of the mill in repair. Signed - Bennet Wathen. Mar 13, 1789 from Vernon Smith of CC, planter, to John Chapman Sr of CC, planter, for 550 £, all that part of a tract of land in Port Tobacco Parish in CC, being part of a tract of land called Greens Inheritance, beginning on the east side of the main Run that runs into Port Tobacco Cr at Frances Edelen's beginning tree and in the division line between John Clements son of Francis and the sd Vernon Smith, containing about 236 acres. Signed - Vernon Smith. Wit - Rich Barnes*, Henry Barnes*. Mary Smith, the wife of the sd Vernon Smith, relinquished her right of dower to the within mentioned land. Recorded Mar 21, 1789.
