Page 88-89 In name of God I WILLIAM BAXTER of Stafford County Planter being sick settle worldly affairs make my last Will & Testament. In first place I bequeath my Son JAMES Ten shillings being all he can claim. And the whole of my Estate afterwards to be equally divided amongst my other four Children WILLIAM, JOHN, NATHANIEL & PEGGY excepting a Negro girl named Matt which I give to my Daughter Peggy to enjoy at age of 21 years or marriage. I also appoint Mr. JOHN WASHINGTON JUNR. son of deced Capt. HENRY WASHINGTON Gent Executor & I hereby order that all my moveables may be sold and I desire my Executor to deliver to my Sister in Law SARAH SMITH my daughter Peggy with her Estate for her Education and for up bringing she the said Sarah Smith giving good Security. THIS INDENTURE made the 18th August 1777 Between JOHN GREEN Gent, Acting Executor of the Last Will of WILLIAM GREEN of one part and WILLIAM BAXTER of County of Culpeper. Whereas the said William Green in his lifetime and by his Last Will in writeing by him duly made Published and bearing date the 24th August 1763 did among other things give his Executors Power to Mortgage or sell any of his lands which are not Intailed for the payment of his just debts and Legacies or to take up money on Interest and it being thought more expedient by the said Acting Executor to sell said unIntailed lands than to Mortgage the same or to take money on Interest to discharge all such debts and Legacies as in said Will directed therefore THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that said John Green for sum One hundred and twelve pounds hath sold unto said William Baxter and his heirs land in Parish of Bromfield and County of Culpeper it being part of a Tract of land known by the name of the GIANT CASTLE TRACT and bounded Begining at two white oaks at the foot of a long point in the bank of Hughes River on the North side thereof and runs thence down the Meanders of said River South to two white oaks on the bank of said River Corner to JOHN TRIPLETT JUNR. thence with his line West to a hikory on Blackwater Run a Corner to RICHARD PARKS thence with his line to a hikory on a hill thence to the Begining place contining one
hundred acres of land
