THIS INDENTURE made this Thirteenth day of November One thousand seven hundred and seventy eight Between JAMES BOHANNAN and FRANCIS BOHANNAN his Wife of Parish of Brumfield and County of Culpeper of one part and HENRY GAINES of Parish of St. Thomas and County of ORANGE of other part Witnesseth that JAMES BOHANNAN and FRANCIS BOHANNAN his Wife hath for consideration of Three hundred & ninety two pounds current money of Virginia in hand paid by these presents bargain and sell unto HENRY GAINES his heirs and assigns forever One certain tract of land containing by Estimation Two hundred & Eighty acres be the same more or less lying in Parish of Brumfield and County of Culpeper and bounded Beginning at a Double Maple, Corner to LAYMAN, running thence South thirty one Degrees West Two hundred and fifty four poles to two Pines on a Branch thence along the several meanders of the Branch to two red Oaks and Hickory at the head of the Branch, thence North forty seven degrees West One hundred poles to one Hickory on the COURTHOUSE ROAD, thence North eighty three degrees West forty nine poles to one red Oak in MARTIN ROUSE's Line, thence with his Line North twenty six degress East Ninety six ple to three red Oaks Corner with said ROUSE, thence with the old Lines of ELIOT BOHANNANs Deed to the beginning, Togather with all houses orchards fences thereon standing lying or growing with all profits commodities & conveniences thereto belonging To have and to hold said Tract of land togather with the appurtenances unto HENRY GAINES his heirs and assigns for ever and JAMES BOHANNAN & FRANCES his Wife shall and will Warrent & forever defend the tract of land hereby bargained & sold unto HENRY GAINES his heirs and assigns In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have set their hands and Seals the day and year first above written
