      Indenture made 27th February 1764 between HENSFIELD BRUCE county King George and JAMES KENYON and ELEN his wife (daughter of said Hensfield) of same .. Whereas Hensfield Bruce did on 12th November 1763 execute in writing intended to be last will and testament of said Hensfield Bruce among other things did give his Daughters ANN WINTERTON and ELEN KENYON three negro slaves..and after death of Hensfield's son JOHN BRUCE and ANNE his wife to whom Hensfield had given the work of the three slaves during their natural lives .. and Hensfield hath given Elen a negro man named Joe after death of THOMAS FICKLIN to whom Hensfield hath given the work of said slave .. also given Elen one negro named Jack. one negro boy named Aaron & one negro girl named Hannah .. Now This Indenture Witnesseth that Hensfield Bruce for the natural love and affection he hath for James Kenyon and Elen his wife and Ten shillings .. doth covenant that the above named slaves shall be conveyed according to his will ..

      Sept. 1757-Letter of William Barber to Colo George W. Fairfax- I have sent my Son with warts hoping you will send me the pats. I am obligd to Tend the warehouse & could not Come myself. I Easpect William Garland has sent you word how the land is without all their pats & has not Bin any Intrance pd for above 80 years. I rented a piece of land from Mr Carter because it was Convenient to the Warehouse and he taking ye opportunity of my being at the warehouse ? I was obligd to Indure it till I had a Jury to put me in possession agin & because their Grate men they Think to Scare Every body but I hope Rite will take place & their pat. will not take it in.
      29 Sept. 1757 - Letter of Landon Carter to proprietor - Robert Jordan asked me to state his case for him. He purch of one ? a tract of land & employed Mr Garland to surv. & finding that altho the person he purchased of held the whole marsh as his own for a very long number of years his lines did not take it all in & he desires survr to give him a plat. Before he got plat Mr Barber obtd a wart. It is certain the man's possession for so many years is in his favor.
      30 Sept. 1757 - William Barber to the Honble Thomas Fairfax deld by Mr Jno Hammond - I have a wart to take up land adj. Mr Charles Carter on which no Questrance (Quit Rents) ben pd for a bove Ninty years. I have paid all ye charges already ••.
