      The Commonwealth of Virginia to JAMES QUARLES and REUBEN LINDSAY Gent Justices of ALBEMARLE COUNTY Greeting Whereas THOMAS WALKER and MILDRED his Wife by their Deed of Bargain and Sale the 24 day of August 1775 have sold unto LAWRENCE SLAUGHTER of Culpeper County land containing four hundred acres adjoining the lands of the late COLO. WILLIAM GREEN Deceased, WILLIAM JACKSON, JOHN HACKLEY deceased and said Lawrence Slaughter and whereas said Mildred cannot travel so far as to our Court of Culpeper to make her personal acknowledgment we do give unto you power to personally go to said Mildred and receive her acknowledgement touching the same whether she doth the same freely and is willing be recorded in our County Court of Culpeper and when you have received her acknowledgment that you Certify on the back of this Commission. Witness JOHN JAMESON Clk the 20th day July 1778.
      This is to certifie that we have examined Mrs. Mildred Walker who has relinquished her right of dower in land mentioned as Witness our hands this third day of August 1778.

      Thomas Walker Senr. , Albemarle. £15.9.0 . Doctor Thomas Walker died in Albemarle about five years ago, possessed of a large estate. His executor is his son Francis Walker, now of the same county. In 1791 Francis Walker, who had the sole management of his father's business (whose great age and infirmity rendered him unable to do it himself) paid to William Glassell the full amount of this debt with fourteen years' interest.

      Thomas Walker, Albemarle. £2539.7.4. He died in 1794 and left a very large real and personal estate. His acting executor is his son , Francis Walker, now of Albemarle County . Judgment has been obtained for this debt in Federal Court and the whole amount paid off.
