Will of Weeden Sleet of the County of Orange, being weak and low in body, dated 10 April 1773.
Unto my beloved wife Sarah all my lands and personal estate during her natural life or widdowhood to raise and maintain my children. At her death or marriage, To my son James all the lands whereon I now live, except my wife Sarah bring forth a male child in nine months from this date and if that child arives to the age of twenty one years, then equally to be divided between my son James and my other son.
To my daughter Lucy and Eupham and Martha all my personal estate to be equally divided except my wife brings a female child in nine months from this date, then that child to have an equal part.
I leave it in the power of my beloved wife Sarah and my other executors to give any part of my personal estate to any of my daughters at marriage, to be valued.
My loving wife Sarah and my brother John Sleet and Francis Gibbs executrix and executors.

James Sleet b. 1693 Immigrant to Va., from Great Britian in May 1750; he was 97 years old in 1790 census of Virginia. Iie had one known son.
James Sleet born 1712, married Jan. 5, 1733 in Spotsylvania County, Va. (Marriage Book I) Euphan Smith b. c. 1714. She was alive in 1780 (Orange County, Va. Deed Book 17, p. 363.) They had two known sons; maybe more. John Sleet of whom we know nothing further. And Weedon McCawley Sleet who married Sarah Carter. He died in Orange County, Va. Will made April 10, 1773, probated April 13, 1773. Will Book 2, pages 459-60, was witnessed by Benjamin Carter and Elizabeth (Betty) Carter. We wonder if they were Sarah Carter's parents? On Nov 23, 1775, John Sleet, brother to Weedon McCawley Sleet, was appointed guardian of James and Weedon Sleet, orphans of Weedon Sleet. Benjamin Finnell was appointed guardian of Lucy, Martha and Sarah. Sarah Carter Sleet m. 2nd on Aug., 25, 1774, Benjamin Finnell.

Lucy Sleet b. c. 1754 m. Luke Thornton Jan. 27, 1799, VIM. Vol. 30, page 69, in Orange County, Va.;
Euphan Sleet b. c. 1756, m. John Major July 2, 1787 Culpeper County, Va. (sometimes called Ursie) Culpeper marriage Book p. 66.;
Martha "Patsy" Sleet, b. c. 1758 and fifth child, John Sleet b. 1773 m. Frances Aright, June 22, 1800 (dau. of Blanche and Wm. Aright. their issue: James, Lucy, Euphan, Martha and John.)
James Sleet II. wife Anne Ford, mentioned above had six children. he served in Revolutionary war from Virginia. Anne Ford Sleet died 1788 and he married Nov. 23, 1789, Rachael White who was born in 1741. She was from Washington County, Kentucky. She died Dec. 25, 1838, Culpeper County, Va. records. James Sleet II died in Mercer County, Ky. July 26, 1834. Issue of James and Anne Ford:
