Bruce died intestate about 1792 and left a very considerable real and personal estate in Orange County. His administrator is his son Chas. Bruce who now resides in Halifax County and removed thither about a year before the death of his father. The widow of Chas. Bruce with her only daughter {since married to Gen. James Williams) reside upon the estate in Orange, which is very ample. Gen. Williams and Mr. Thos. Farish of Orange, although not qualified as administrators, are nevertheless authorized to adjust any claims against the estate. They have been told by Joseph Spencer that he had paid the debt to Harry Mitchell, factor for the claimants. Mr. Spencer can produce no
voucher. For many years past he has been addicted to excessive intoxication; his mind has become much impaired
The estate of Chas. Bruce is very ample and the money might be recovered without any difficulty. W. w. Hening
