      TO ALL TO WHOM these presents shall come, I FRANCIS NICHOLSON Esqr., their Majts. Lieut. Governr. of Virginia send Greeting. Whereas his late Majt. King Charles the second hath been graciously pleased by his Royal Letter under ye Great Seale of England bearing date at Westminster ye tenth day of October in the Eight and twentieth yeare of his Reign amongst other things confirme the priviledge of granting Fifty acres of land for every person imported into this Colony of Virginia; Now know yee that I the said FRANCIS NICHOLSON Esqr. their Majties, Lieut. Governr: &c, doe with the advice and consent of the Councill of State accordingly give and grant unto THOMAS HICKMAN Four hundred twenty eight acres of land on the South side of Rappa: River in the County of RAPPA: and on the North side of a great Swamp that runeth into PEANKETANKE RIVER bounded as followeth (vizt) begining at a marked white Oake standing on the Swamp side and adjoyning to the land of ANTHONY JACKMAN, thence extending North Easterly forty degrees three hundred ninety eight poles alongst ye line of marked trees of the said ANTHONY JACKMANs Land to a corner white Oak adjoyning to the Land of Mr. GEORGE MARSH, thence South West three hundred twenty pole alongst ye line of marked trees of the said MARSH his land to a corner marked Pohickory standing on the aforesd. Swampside according to the severall courses & bounded by the Main Runn in the midst of the said Swamp unto the place where it first began; the said Land being formerly granted unto RICHD. BREDGAR by Patent dated the 19th of September 1664 and by him deserted, And is since granted to the sd THOMAS HICKMAN by Order of the General! Court dated at JAMES CITY the 28th: of October 1691, And is due for ye importacon of Nine persons into this Colony whose names are in the Record menconed under this Patent; To have and to hold ye sd land with his due share of all mines and mineralls with all rights of hunting hawking fishing and fowling wth: all woods waters & rivers with all profitts belonging to the said Land to him the sd THOMAS HICKMAN his heires forever, in as large & ample manner as hath been allowed since the first Plantacon, To be held of our Sovereigne Lord & Lady, ye King & Queen, paying for every fifty acres of land thereby granted at the feast of St. Michael the Archangel ye fee Rent of One shilling yearly according to the Instructions of the 12th of September 1662, provided if ye sd THOMAS HICKMAN doe not seat or plant thereon within three yeares next ensueing date hereof, then it may be lawful! for any Adventurer or Planter to make choice thereof and seate thereon, Given under my hand and the Seale of the Colony ye 29th: day of Aprill Ano Dom 1692

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I THOMAS HICKMAN of KING and OMEN County for two thousand pounds of good sweet sented tobacco and cesque to me in hand truly paid and for divers other causes sell and set over to EDWIN THACKER of MIDDLESEX County his heires and assignes the within mentioned Pattent and the land conteined and mentioned therein according to the Courses distances and bounds therein exprest, and also all profitts and appurtenances thereunto belonging as all the right and interest which I have to the same hereby granted land by force of the within mentioned Patent or otherwise. And the said THOMAS HICKMAN for himself his heires doth grant with the said EDWIN THACKER in manner and forme following (vizt) that he said EDWIN THACKER his heires at all times forever hereafter hold the within mentioned lands without the trouble of said THOMAS HICKMAN his heires or any of them, and that the said THOMAS HICKMAN will acknowledge this Deed or Assignment in Essex County Court when thereunto required to the end the same may be entred upon the Records of the said Court and receive full strength and virtue thereby. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale this 1lth day of December Ano. Dom 1693

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I THOMAS HICKMAN of KING and QUEEN County for & in consideracon of Two thousand pounds of good sweet sented tobo: & caske to me in hand well & truely paid do sell & set over unto EDWIN THACKER of MIDDLESEX County his heires and assignes ye within menconed Patent and the land contained therein according to ye course distances and bounds therein exprest and also all profits & appurtenances thereunto belonging as all right and interest which I have to ye same by force of this menconed Patent or otherwise and the said THOMAS HICKMAN for himselfe his heires doth promise that ye sd EDWIN THACKER his heires shall at all times forever hereafter hold & enjoy ye within menconed land without the interuption of the said THOMAS HICKMAN his heires and that ye said THOMAS HICKMAN will acknowledge this Deed in Essex County Court when thereunto required In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seale this 11 day of December Ano Dom 1693

MOUNTECOUGH his heirs at all time forever hereafter have & enjoy the within menconed land and all its rights & appurtenances without the trouble or interruption of the said EDWIN TRACKER his heires or any persons whatsoever claiming under him In Witness whereof the said EDWIN THACKER hath here set his hand and seal this 11th day of June 1694
