      Halifax NC", 31 Dec 1779 Nov Ct. 1783; lend wife Mary Hall use of all my estate; son Ignatius Hall at wife's death or marriage the land whereon I now live joining Nathaniel Green's Old place and Rocky Swamp, etc; daughters Mary Hall, Eleanor Rawlings, Rebeekah Hines and Elzabeth Cox and son Thomas Lant Hall slaves each; son Robert Hall land on north side of the branch, slave, etc; daughter-in-law Anna Hall 1 shilling sterling; granddaughter Sibbril Hall 1 heifer; Wit: John Marshall & William Hall; Extr: wife Mary Hall.
      Ignatius's widow Mary died in Halifax NC in 1799. Witnesses to her will were James Judge, Sarah Conway, Verlaender Rawlings with executor Benjamin Hines.

      James Carricoe aged Seventy years being sworn on the holy Evangelist of almighty god Declares that about fifty years agoe Stood a bound post near a Road which leads from Benidict to Newport and in the Edge of an old field Called Gates’s old field which post peter Carricoe father of this Deoponant told him was a Boundary of Gates’s land and that after the post was Rotten and gone there was a Small white oake marked ~~ Standing in The Edge of the Said post Hole which tree John Gates Joseph Gates Peter Carricoe and Several others told him was the first Boundary of Gates Hope, maidstone and a tree of Hunts Venture James (his mark) Carricoe

      Ignatius Hall aged fifty or their abouts being Sworn on the holy evangelist of almighty god being at the above Described place in Carricoes mentioned on James Carricoes Deposiation, Declares that about twenty years agoe Lawrence Sant and Peter Carricoe shewed him the said place and told him it was the Beginning of a tract of land Called maid Stone Ignatius Hall.

      Margaret Carricoe aged fifty two years, or their abouts being Sworn on the holy Evangelist of almighty god being at the above Descrobed place in Carricoes Deposition Declares She was She was Shoed the Said place by her Husband Peter Carricoe and that he told her it was the beginning of two tracts of land the one Called maid Stone the other Gates’s Hope and that She has Been told the same by old Thomas Hunt Margaret (her mark) Carricoe

      1767 Sept 28th Charles Love being Sworn on the holy Evangelists of almighty god Declares that about Six years agoe Peter Carricoe Showed him this Deponant a beech Standing near a small branch, and told him it was the first bound tree of old Thomas Hunts land Called Hunts Venture and the Said Carrico told this Deponant that a mumber of years before old Thomas Hunts brought with him many boys to this place and Declared the Said beech to be his beginning tree….Charles Love

      Charles County We the Subscribers being Commifsioners appointed by the County Court aforesaid to Examine all Witnefses to us offered touching the memory of the Bounds of a tract of land Called Gates’s hope now in the Pofsefsion of George Huntees Laying in the county aforesaid having been first Qualified as appears on the back of the Commifsion hereunto annexed do Hereby Certifie that we have advertised our meating on the Said land twenty days before the Said day agreeable to which we met on the Said land took the Several Depositions here Contained In Witnefs whereby we have hereunto Set our hands and affixed our Seals this Twenty Eight day of September 1767

      Charles County Land Record Book S#3, 1770-1775; Page 272, Mar 31, 1772 from Ignatius Hall of CC, planter, to Joseph and George Morton of Prince Georges County, planters, for 210 £a tract of land in CC called Canterbury, bounded by the north side of a Fresh Run near the land of John Hunt called Hunts Venture, containing about 200 acres. Sd Joseph and George Morton shall not enter on the within land called Canterbury, nor be possessed thereof, until after the death of their father, Thomas Morton Sr, but that sd Thomas Morton be peaceably possessed of the sd land and premises during his natural life. Signed - Ignatius Hall, Thomas Lent Hall. Wit - Jno Winter*, Philip Briscoe*. Mary, wife to sd Ignatius Hall, and Thomas Lant Hall, their son, declared that they relinquished their right of dower to the above mentioned land. Recorded Jun 20, 1772.
