Estep Family Journal, Vol. 1 No 4, Oct. 1991.
"Sixteen year old Richard Eaststopp (Estep), son of John, Dec'd., was bound out for five years as an indentured servant of Thomas Rogers, a merchant, and sailed for St. Mary's, Maryland on 6 Aug. 1684 on the ship "Loyal Subject". He may have married shortly after completing his servitude which would be around 1689. His wife was Rebecca Ramsey. By 1698, his family was living in the area of St. Mary's in Benedict Hundred, Charles County. Thomas Cooksey, son of Philip Cooksey, late of Charles County, was ordered to serve Richard Estep until he became 21 years old. This deed was dated April 19 1698 and Thomas will become 9 years old in August. He was to lodge with Richard who would take care of him and his needs".
