This Indenture made 17th December 1770 between JOHN ROOTES of County of Gloster & AUGUSTINE SMITH of Middlesex in consideration of sum one hundred and eighty six pounds current money & costs hath granted unto Augustine Smith 800 acres in Culpeper County on the Robinson River being part of two patents formerly granted to JOHN & RICHARD MAULDING one for 1000 acres the other for 813 acres and bounded Beginning at the south fork of the Robinson River where Dickens line crosses the said River thence with his line to three hickories on the side of a Mountain and South to AMBROSE POWELLs line with his line South to a chesnut oak near Little new River a corner of the said Powell thence up the River to JOHN SAMPSON's corner and with his line to three chesnuts at one stump near the Wells old Field West to an oak corner to HENRY LEWIS on a Ridge to the River & up the River to HENRY ALORS corner on the south side of the north fork & with Aylors line up the south fork to the beginning ..

This Indenture made 17th December 1770 between AUGUSTINE SMITH & his Wife MARGARET SMITH of the County of Middlesex & CHRISTOPHER DICKEN of Culpeper County .. in consideration of sum Forty seven pounds hath sold 164 acres in Culpeper County and in the fork of the Robinson River bounded beginning at the North side of the Fork of the Robinson River where Dickens line crosses the said south fork to two Sasafras's Corner in the said line with AMBROSE POWELL and south to a corner of Powells near the Little new River thence down the said Little River to the North fork of the Robinson River to HENRY AYLOR's line to the beginning ..
