      The deposition of Jane Horsley aged 40 years or there abouts examined the 2nd of April 1655, I the said Jane do averr upon my corporal oath that Mr. Seth Foster did acknowledge that he had received one cow of Francis Symons which cow presently after come by a mischance and further this depondent saith not.

      Henry Rocke aged 42 years or there abouts sworn and examined saith, July the 21st 1655, That Francis Symons the said [-----] [-----] to Mr. Seth Foster a cow and said that he did allot the said cow to the said Foster for a debt of five hundred pounds by bill [-----] said Foster paid well assume what course he should take [----] for the said cow, Francis Symons replied that he [----] her as his own provided that Mr. Foster gave him his [-----] and further this depondent saith that Francis Symons bid him take [-----] that her delivered the said cow to Mr. Foster.

      To all etc Whereas etc. Now know you that I the said Richard Bennett Esq. etc. give and grant unto William Bedlam seventy acres of land situated in the County of Northumberland commonly called by the name of Yeocomoco Point bounded on the South and Southwest a creek which divideth this land and the land of Thomas Hayles, West and Northwest upon the land of Edward Walker North and Northeast upon or against Potomacke River East and Southeast upon Yeocomoco River the said land being due unto the said Wm. Bedlam by and for the transportation of two persons into this colony both whose names are in records mentioned under this pattent dated the 29th of November 1652.

      I Abraham Moone do constitute ordain and appoint my trusty friend Seth Foster my true and lawfull attorney in my place and stead to ask demand redeem and receive from Mr. George Colclough a pattent of land laying in Great Wicocomoco River and belonging unto me the said Moone on which land Richard Nelmes is now seated and do likewise renose and frustrate any former power given to the said George Colclough or any other person whatsoever for the disposeing of the said land and do further ordain and appoint the said Seth Foster to sell and dispose of the land above said as he shall see fit and requisit and what illy said attorney shall act and do concerning the premisses I do ratify and confirm to be authentic as if that I was personally present as witness my hand this 19th of September anno 1655.

      I Thomas Hawkins do assign over all these bills here undereth specified unto Mr. Seth Foster as his own proper debts and do give him all the full power and authority to arrest sue imprison and release in as ample manner as I could do myself and if I were present myself: imprimus a bill of Christopher Williams of one thousand forty nine and also a bill of Edward Hudsons of four hundred and also another bill of Edward Hudsons of five hundred ninty five and also a bill of Charles Williams of five hundred and seventy and also another bill of Charles Williams of five hundred and seventy and also another bill of Charles Williams of three hundred and thirty and also a bill of Henry Barnes of seven hundred and also another bill of [blank] Goddens of eight hundred and fifty which said bills do amount to in all four thousand five hundred and ninty five as witness my hand the 10th day of February 1654.

      George Nott his will.
      In the name of God Amen, I George Nott of the
      County of Northumberland in Virginia being weak of body but of sound and perfect memory for which I praise Ahnighty God and knowing the certainty of death and the time and hour uncertain do therefore make and declare this my last will and testament. First I give and commend my soul unto the hands of almighty God hoping through the merits of Jesus Christ to receive remission of all my sins.
      Next I commit my body to the earth from whence it came and as touching such estate as God hath endowed me withall I do dispose thereofas followeth (vizt)
      First - I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Elizabeth Nott one cow called by the name of, "White Foot" and one hundred acres ofland out of the divident I now live on upon Yeocomoco River and that to be where I now live with all housing thereto belonging.
      Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving son George Nott one cow called, "Motley" and one hundred acres of land next adjoining unto the land of Robert Sharpe deceased.
      Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving son John Nott one heifer called, "Mullberry" and one hundred acres of land next adjoining unto the land of my wife Elizabeth Nott.
      Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving son William Nott one heifer called, "Nansey" and also the first cow calf that falls from the cow called, "Motley" given to my son George Nott and one hundred acres of land next adjoining unto Francis Peale.
      Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Ann Nott one great brass kettle.
      Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving son George Nott my long gun and to my son John my muskett.
      Item - I give and bequeath unto Henry Lenton the son of Anthony Lenton my short gun.
      Item - I give and bequeath unto my loving brother George Berry one cow calf.
      Item - I give and bequeath unto Thomas Hall (he to be bound by indenture or by order of court) one cow calf to be delivered for his use three years before the expiration of his freedom.
      All the rest and residue of my estate whatsoever my debts and legacies being paid I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Elizabeth Nott whom I do make my sole and lone executrix of this my last will revoking all former wills gifts and legacies whatsoever and ordaining this to stand for and as my last will and testament In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 18th of November 1655.

      Know all men by these presents that I Seth Foster have made constituted and appointed and by these presents do make constitute and appoint Mr. Francis Clay my true and lawfull attorney for me and in my name stead and place to also demand sue for levy and recover all such debts as are due and oweing unto me from any person whatsoever within the County of Northumberland in Virginia either by bill bond account or otherwise and in case any person or persons from whom any such debt shall appear to be due shall deny to pay the same, then I do give unto my said attorney full power to implead the said person or persons so denying ratifying and confirming whatsoever my said attorney shall do in the premisses in as ample manner as if I myself were personally present and did the same, witness my hand this 25th of May 1656.

BROUGHTON should be satisfied & allowed the summe of seaven hundred pounds of tobco. & caske out of the sd. Servants time next after the expiracon of ye sd. 14 moneths. with all costs of suite. as by the said Order more at large appeareth; the sd. Servant haveing remained in the sd.
