  From: SHIRLEY MOLLER Sent: Sunday, May 13, 2007 8:56:09 PM Elizabeth wife of Benjamin Belt Sr is not the d/o Robert Middleton and Mary Wheeler. Henry Wright Newman speculated in 1956 that Elizabeth could be Elizabeth Middleton d/o Robert and Mary Middleton due to the Middleton name being given as a first name to a son of Benjamin Belt and Elizabeth MNU. [That speculation was then copied by D.B. Lloyd in his Middleton Book and Jourdan in her EFSM, Vol V; and Chris Johnston repeated the same speculation word for word in his Belt family info; and speculation has now become an excepted fact, but it is not correct]. There is no doc's connecting Elizabeth MNU wife of Benj Belt Sr to Robert Middleton. The following is the only connection between Middleton and Benjamin Belt and his wife Elizabeth. Benjamin Belt, Prince George's County, purchased a tract of land called Godfather's Gift; lying on a small branch that runs into the main branch of the Eastern Branch of the Potomac about 4 miles from the "riding" place of the Eastern Branch for £20.10.0 from William and Elizabeth Middleton of Charles County, MD on 18 Jun 1719. (PGLR .197) Elizabeth w/Benj Belt Sr cannot be Elizabeth wife of Terrance Dunning and Philip Mason These are clearly two different Elizabeths. Elizabeth w/Ben Belt was having kids the same time Elizabeth w/ Philip Mason was having his kids. So that is the proof they are two different women and they are not the d/o Robert Middleton and Mary Wheeler.
