      - THO: HOBSON agt ANTH: LYNTON Whereas at a Court held the 17th of Aprill 1677 it was ordered that ANTHONY LYNTON should be possest of the Land on which JOHN [ ] lived by the first of January next unless GEORGE CARTER, who marryed the Relict of HENRY LYNTON, should shew good reason and produce Leases he alleadged to the contrary, and whereas this Court GEORGE CARTER appeared and did offer his reasons which the Court would not except of, ANTHONY LYNTON being absent, it is ordered that the business be referred to the next Court and ordered that ANTHONY LYNTON have notice of this Order

      Wm. Thomas his sale ofland to Hulet and Woodes
      I William Thomas do acknowledge to have sold unto John Hulet and Charles Woodes a parcel or tract of land containing two hundred acres in and for the consideration of one thousand pounds of tobacco and cask which land the said Hulet and Woodes is to make there of out of four hundred acres provided that they begin at one side either above or below which land lyeth on the Southside of Great Wicocomocoe River opposite to the point commonly caIled,"SaffaIls Point" and do bind myself to secure and defend the said land unto the said Hulet and Woodes from any person that shall lay any title or claim there unto and likewise to acknowledge this deed in court witness my hand December 10th 1652. [-----] Thomas and me Thomas Kedby the mark of Anthony Linton likewise I the said Wm. Thomas do by these presents bind me my heirs, extrs, admtrs and assignees to confirm and make good the said land within specified onto the said Hulet and Woodes their heirs, extrs, admtrs or assignees forever as witness my hand this 10th day of December 1652.

      Anthony Linton his deed of gift to Thomas and Alice Shaw
      These presents witness that I Anthony Linton of the County of Northumberland, Planter for and in [-----] of my true love and affection to my dear sister Alice Shaw wife of Thomas Shaw now of Yorke [--] do hereby set and to afirm both to my said [-----] Thomas and Alice Shaw three hundred and fifty acres of land being the uppermost of my said deed [-----] Westerly upon [-----] Wicocomocoe River [-----] there of and hereby the three hundred and twenty poles South into the woods and distinquished by marker as appointed as may appear by my pattent to have and to hold the said land with all previledges them to apportaining etc. so long as they or either of them shall live [-----] provided they let it out to neither person or persons nor make use of any of the timber but for the good of the plantation And that I the said Anthony or my assignees have the benefit of half the peach trees now growing and if they come not this year this writing be void and of non effect In conformation where of! have here unto set my hand this last of August 1653.

      Anthony Lenton his deposition
      Anthony Lenton aged 41 years or there abouts sworn and examined saith, that about 19 years past this depondent was a Servant to Mr. Humphrey Higginson and at the time Elizabeth a Mullatto now Servant to the estate of Col. John Mottrom deceased was then a Servant to the said Mr. Higginson and as the neighbors reported was bought of Mr. Kaye for nine years Mr. Kaye having sold an estate to the said Mr. Higginson with the said Servant both himself and his wife intended a voyage for England and at the nine years end (as the neighbors reported) the said Mr. Higginson was bound to carry or send the said Servant for England unto the said Mr. Kaye but before the said Mr. Kaye went his voyage he died about Kerotan and as the neighbors reported the said Mr. Higginson said that at the nine years end he would carry the said Mullatto for England and give her a portion and let her shift for herself and it was a common report amoungst the neighbors that the said Mullatto was Mr. Kayes child begot by him and further this depondent saith not.

      Mr. Thomas Broughton aged 34 years or there abouts sworn and examined saith, that about the latter end March last past this depondent being at the house of Anthony Lenton amoungest other discourse and wrangling the said Anthony Lenton said that Thomas Shawe was a Knave and that he would prove him a arrant Knave or words the like effect and further this depondentsaith not.
