1759-1763 Prince George's County, Maryland Land Records Liber RR [Abstract by Mike Marshall]; Page 181. At the request of Charity Mullikin the following Land Commission was recorded abt November 26, 1761
Memorandum that on the special petition of andpreferred to the justices of Prince George's County, Maryland on the 4th Tuesday in March in the 10th year of his Lordship commission the Right Hon. the Lord Proprietary Dominion etc., his Lordship commission issued by order of the justices aforesaid out of the county aforesaid on April 15, 1761. In these words following, Frederick Absolute Lord and Proprietary of the Province of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltimore vizt; to Messrs Robert Tyler, James Draine, Mordecai Jacob and James Beck of PGCo Gentleman, whereas Charity Mullikin, is seized of a tract called "Mullikins Levell" and preferred his petition in writing to our county court held at Upper Marlborough Town to prove and perpetuate the memory of the bounds of the said tract of land. Therefore, we command you any three or two of you to examine all witnesses or persons concerned touching their knowledge of the bounds of the said tract. By virtue of a commission to examine evidences to prove the bounds of "Mullikins Levell" hereby give notice that we intend to meet at the dwelling house of Charity Mullikin on the said land on Saturday, September 26, 1761. We met and now evidence appearing adjourned till Saturday, October 10 next. We then met and proceeded to a red oak standing on the west side of Collington Branch
John Brown, aged about 52 years, there being a dispute between old James Mullikin and old Charles Walker now both deceased concerning their dividing line at which time Robert Pottenger deceased run a line for a dividing line between them beginning at the 3rd tree of Mullikin's land and ending at this tree and at the same time marked it and agreed that the said line should be a dividing line between them and further saith not.
At the same place Thomas Mullikin aged near 32 years declares about 14 years ago his brother James Mullikin likewise deceased brought him to this tree and told him it was the dividing tree between Mullikin's land in Charles Walker's land and further about 12 years ago he carried the chain when Benjamin Hall ran the said line at the request of Mrs. Mullikin and ended about 5 or 6 foot to the north west of said tree and further saith not
At the same place James Duvall aged about 28 years declares that about 14 years ago he was in the woods with his uncle James Mullikin brought him to this tree and told him it was the dividing tree between the said Mullikin's land and the land formerly Charles Walker's and further saith not. Then we adjourned till Saturday the 24th instant to meet at the dwelling house of Mrs. Charity Mullikin's. We met and no evidences appearing we adjourned till Wednesday, November 4th.
At the same place Rebecca Walker aged about 89 years declares that the tree was a boundary between the land formerly in her husband's and the land of James Mullikin's deceased which her husband told her that was the dividing line between him and further sayeth she was sure to remember the place for her husband and she had been many times they are together looking for cows and further saith not. Adjourned until tomorrow Thursday, November 5, 1761. We met and proceeded to a bounded white oak standing in the woods near the southwest corner of Mrs. Mullikin's plantation
John Brown aforesaid declared that about 24 years ago James Mullican senior, deceased showed him this tree and told him it was the 2nd boundary of Mullikin's land and that since then is the said Brown's father told him the same and that likewise Mr. Francis Hall and told him the same thing and further saith not. Then we proceeded to a stone standing between the plantation of Mrs. Charity Millekin and the plantation of Mrs. Isaac Landsdale and on the west side of the main road that leads through both plantations towards Marlborough
John Brown aforesaid declared that about 6 years ago he was at this place when Mr. Thomas Hodgkins, deceased was running out the manor and Mr. Richard Isaac deceased being called upon to give information of what he knew the bounds he this deponent heard that the said Isaac declared that the 3rd boundary of Mullikin's level and the first bounday of Walker's land stood near or at the place where the stone is and further that before that time his this deponents father had shown him a Hickory standing at or near the said place and told him that the said tree was the 3rd tree of Mullikin's land and the 1st tree of Walker's land and further saith not. Indenture made October 2, 1772; Ann Brown in consideration of 213 pounds 2 shillings and 6 pence sterling money of Great Britain paid by James Mullican all that tract called "Anns Purchase"beginning at a stone standing near a small pocoson on the west side of the main road that leads from Upper Marlborough through the manor towards the Chapel the said stone being the beginning of the part of "Collington Mano"r now called "Landsdale's Purchase" and bounded by the south side of the main road that leads from Queen Anne through the manor towards Bladensburgh and part of the manor formerly sold to Richard Keen and now in possession of Charity Mullican, and the 3rd boundary of "Halls Purchase".
