      Indenture made April 9, 1785; between Ariana Ross of one part and Benedict Woodward of the other part. Whereas Dr. David Ross did by his last will and testament empower Ariana Ross his executrix to sell land with the consent of his sons who might be of age which are at this time David Ross, Horatio Ross and Archibald Ross who have signified their approval. Now this indenture that Ariana Ross in pursuance of the recited powers and in consideration of 32 pounds paid by Benedict Woodward has sold a parcel of land containing ½ acres and beginning at a stone adjoining the street opposite a stone beginning of the Town of Bladensburgh and running easterly parallel with the lots of the Town. Signed Ariana Ross, David Ross, Horatio Ross, Archibald Ross in the presence of John Ritchie, Thomas James and acknowledged before Abraham Boyd, James Mullikin
