Subject: [MDSTMARY] Mary Mastin was the supposed sister of Francis Mastin who had command of a company of Maryland "Old Line" troops
I passed your observation to Ed Woodyard about Mary Mastin and he responded:
>Mary Mastin was the supposed sister of Francis Mastin who had command of a company of Maryland "Old Line" troops during the Revolutionary War. The first cousin of Richard Woodyard (who later married Mary Mastin Covert) was James Woodyard who served with Francis Mastin in the 26th Battalion flying camp. Some of this information comes from the Revolutionary War pension application of Covert Mason (aka Woodyard) --
>
>Also, 1757 date of birth for the other Mary doesn't jibe with Mary Mastin Covert's children -- despite the 1754 will of Richard Mastin.
>
>She had three children at least by Robert Covert Jr.: Charity b. 1765 who married George Ford; Mastin Covert b. 1770 of Fauquier County, VA, and Asa b. 1772 who married the widow Sarah Woodyard Hudson and settled in Marion County, MO.
