There is a slim possibility that an elder Anthony Long was the father of a Thomas Long who was married twice, and is the only known male ancestor of the 5 boys.
Notice this from Lincoln Co., NC:
Thomas Long's son, Anthony Long, b, ca 1786 MD, was only 11 yrs when this was recorded :
"Daniel Asbury sold 83 acres on June 12, 1797 to Anthony Long (Sr.?). It was proved by John Turbyfill.
(Was this older Anthony Long the grandfather of Anthony Long II, b. 1786 ? )
July 1799 Court, Lincoln Co, NC:
Ordered by the Court that Letters of Administration on the estate of Anthony Long, deceased, issue to Rachel Long, widow & relict of deceased, who qualified and gave bond & security John Long in the sum of £50. (NOTE: Their children were Thomas, John, Elizabeth, Nancey and Nelley.
