Nelms, William

Son Samuel Nelms-horse, bridle, saddle, pistols and holsters, my still and worm, negro girl Matt, and the plantation whereon I now live to him and his heirs.
Son William Nelms-land which I bought of Samuel Smith dec'd, lying on little Wiccocomo giver side, to him and the heirs law fully begotten of his body. Also a horse,bridle, saddle, a negro girl or boy that is suitable to his age, and one thousar pounds of tobacco.
Daughter Elizabeth Nelms-negro girl Moll, a feather bed and furniture, three pewter dishes, and a half dozen plates to her and her heirs.
Daughter Winneyfred Nelms-mullatto girl Bett, a feather bed a furniture, three pewter dishes, and a half dozen plates to he and her heirs.
Daughter Angelico Nelms-negro girl Lucy, a feather bed and fu niture, three pewter dishes, and a half dozen plates to her and her heirs.
Daughter Mary Nelms-negro girl Beck, a feather bed and furniture, three pewter dishes, and a half dozen. plates to her and her heirs.
Daughter Hannah Nelms-negro girl or boy of ten or eleven years of age, a feather bed and furniture, three pewter dishes, and a half dozen plates to her and her heirs.
Daughter Sarah Nelms-a negro girl or boy suitable to her age, a feather bed and furniture, three pewter dishes, and a half dozen plates to her and her heirs.
Each of my sons Samuel and William-a feather bed and furniture if any, if not each a Flock bed.
Wife Elizabeth Nelms-two negro women Nan and Jane, one feather' bed and furniture, her horse and saddle, and a great looking glass
Cousin William Helms, the son of my brother John Nelms-a horse, bridle and saddle, and two suits of Cloaths.
After my decease, my sons Samuel Nelms and William Nelms to be of age to take their estates Into their own possession when either of them attains the age of twenty one years.
My daughters Elizabeth, Winneyfred, Angelico, Mary, Hannah, and Sarah-to have their estates at the age of twenty one or day of marriage, which shall happen first.
If any of the negroes given to my children should die before my children receive them, the negroes that die are to be made good out of my old stock if any.
If any of my sons and daughters should die before they come of age, their estates to be divided equally among the rest of my children and wife.
Wife Elizabeth Nelms-to possess my dwelling plantation during her widowhood.
son Samuel-to take his part along with him where he now lives.
my wife should marry a man as my children can't agree with, then each daughter so disagreeing to have her estate at ye age of fifteen years.
Rest of my estate whatsoever, real or personal, to be divided equally between my wife and children.

THIS INDENTURE made the Nineteenth day of December in ye Eighth yeare of ye Reigne of or: Sovereign Lady Anne by ye grace of God of Great Brittaine &c. and in the yeare of or: Lord God one thousand seven hundred & nine; Betweene SAMUELL SMITH of the Parish of ST. STEVENS in ye County of Northumberld. & Colony of Virga., Gen tl., of the one part and WILLIAM NELMES of the same Parish & County of the other part: Witnesseth that the said SAMUELL SMITH for the summe of Tenn thousand pounds of good sound merchantable tobacco caske to him in hand paid path granted unto the said WILLIAM NELMES his heires & assignes all that NECK or par- cell of land in the said Parish of ST. STEVENS & County aforesd,, conteyning One hun- dred acres (be the same more or less) and bounded as followeth: Beginning at a marked red Oak standing in a Branch issueing out of RAYMONDS CREEK and the head thereof & running from thence by a line of marked trees to a marked Pine standing nigh ye Road that leads from SHAPLEIGHS QUARTER to the said SMITHs & soe along the sd, Road to a marked Pine standing nigh ye Road, thence to a marked Spanish Oak & from thence to a near red Pine standing in ye head of a Branch issueing out of HARRIES NECK CREEK and soe running the sevl: courses of HARRIES NECK CREEK, LITTLE WICCOCOMOCO RIVER and RAYMONDS CREEL to the first men coned red Oak, which said Neck or parcell of land is part of a greater Devident of land on which the said SAMUEL SMITH now liveth, & descended and came to him as heire apparent to SAMUEL SMITH, Gentl, his late Father, deced,, together with all woods trees waters houses tobacco houses orchards belonging; To have and to hold the said Land to him the said WILLIAM NELMES his heires & assignes forevermore, to be holden to the Cheife Lord or Lords of the Fee or Fees of the sd. pr:misses by the Rents and Services for the same due and the said SAMUEL SMITH for him selfe his heires grant that he the said Land shall be unto him the sd. WILLIAM NELMES his heires free from all claims of him the said SAMUEL SMITH his heires att all times hereafter In Witness whereof the parties first abovenamed to this pr:sent Indenture have sett their hands & seales the day & yeare first above written
