...the copy of the Will of Richard's father, also called Benjamin Notley Mitchell. (MSA No. 1327-14) excerpts which you have printed. In this will, Benj. N. Mitchell states: "Item I give and Bequeath unto my beloved wife Elisabeth Mitchell (his second wife) one hundred and forty-one acres of Land being part of a tract called Thomas & Sarah lying at the lower end where Richard Mitchell now lives for the term of her own life and after her decease the aforesaid parcel of land to belong to my grandson Matthais Mitchell and his heirs forever ~" So here is your proof that Richard Mitchell was still living when his father wrote his will on September 13, 1784. It was probated on October 23, 1784. A note at the bottom of this statement says: "Benjamin NN. Mitchell his Said Will and Testament Probated Oct. 23rd 1785. Recorded in LIber S.T. No. 2 folio 200" However, in the text itself, the dated is given as October 23rd, 1784.
