      16 April 1761. Robert Coleman and Sarah his wife of Culpeper County to Nathaniel Pendleton of same. For £15 current money. Thomas Slaughter, William Green, Philip Clayton, Nathaniel Pendleton and William Williams pursuant to an Act of Assembly begun 22 Feb. 1759 have laid off the Town of Fairfax at Culpeper Courthouse on the land of Robert Coleman into lotts and streets and numbered the same from one to forty inclusive according to the plan, which lotts still remains vested in the proprietor. Two lotts, 10 and 20 in the plan containing half an acre in each. Lot 20 is situate on the west side of the Main Street called Coleman's Street and the other lott, numbered 10, lies joyning on the back part thereof and is next to the spring, both lotts lying on the south end of the town on the west side of the main street.

By Act of Assembly passed by George III instituted an Act to direct the sale of certain intailed lands whereof John Spotswood, Esqr., died seized for payment of the debts due from him and the estate of Majr. General Alexander Spotswood, it is enacted that Bernard Moore or the acting executors of the will of John Spotswood or the guardian for the time being of Alexander Spotswood the son should be impowered with the consent and approbation of John Robinson Esqr., Edmund Pendleton, Roger Dixon and John Campbell, Gent., to sell so much of the intailed lands whereof John Spotswood died seized (the mine tract excepted) so as that the whole of the money to be raised did not amount to more than £6000, and convey the land to the purchasers. 278 acres ... on a branch corner to Richard Pollard ...       Nathaniel Pendleton now stands security for, amounting to £3813.9.8 on 1 Jan. 1767, provided the same shall not be discharged as by a written agreement, after all errors which shall be discovered on either side are rectified. 264 acres which Nathaniel Pendleton purchased of Colo. Robert Eastham, also 333 acres which he purchased of Evan Thomas, also 290 acres which he purchased of Thomas Graves, also one lot on the main street in the town of Fairfax on the north side of the south end of the street, also one Lott of Beverley's land at the Thoroughfare fountains which he purchased of William Griffin, also 270 acres on which he now lives, purchased of the estate of John Spotswood, Esqr., deceased.
