      there are two William Williams in the same place same time. one born 1685 and the other abt 1700.

      one can be identified by his sister Elizabeth that married James Mackay and then Thomas Annis. both William and Elizabeth were kids of John Williams. This william's wife Anne married john Stromat after his death in 1736. Do not have a maiden name for her

      the other William Williams was a son of James William that died 1723. He can be deduced from the land records where his siblings are mentioned. His married Anne Ancrum. his sister Elizabeth married Gilbert Sympson.

      There are are records for both Elizabeth's showing they were married in 1738 and that both Williams married Anne's.

      Charles County Court Records, 8 March 1736/7 Court, Liber T#2, Page 289. Whereas Barton Hungerford and Mark Penn, by their petition to this Court in Aug last, set forth that they were bound with Mary, the now wife of James Williams, on her administration of James Daily's estate, and that they had just cause to suspect that they should be damnified thereby, and prayed that sd James Williams and wife might be called before the Court to give countersecurity to sd petitioners, which was ordered to be done. But for that sd James and Mary have failed to comply, it is now, on the motion of Mark Penn, ordered that process issue to enable sd petitioners to possess themselves of so much of the sd estate as now remains in the hands of sd Williams and wife, and that they return an inventory to next Court, appraised by Joseph Douglass and Philip Jenkins, to be administered by a Magistrate.

      THIS INDENTURE made this fourteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred forty & one Between WILLIAM CLIFTON of the County of Prince William gent of one part & GILBERT SIMPSON of the aforesaid County Planter of other part Witnesseth that the said WILLIAM CLIFTON for the Rents and Covenants expressed on the part of GILBERT SIMPSON his heirs to be performed hath granted to farm Let unto the said GILBERT SIMPSON a certain parcel of land by estimation one hundred and fifty acres in the aforesaid County being the land where the said SIMPSON now lives on & bounded begining at three chesnut white Oaks on the lower side of a COVE runing thence Southwest by West to two red Oaks corner trees between the said GILBERT SIMPSON & WILLIAM WILLIAMS then North to a corner red Oak in the line that divides the land of MR.
