(devised by his father) to his sons, John, Henry, James; his deathhead ring to his son John, his seale ring to son Henry; to.James Pitt his strong-water still and furniture and silver tumbler marked J.       Mr. Pitt his letter of Attorney to John Pitt

      Know all men by these presents that I Robert Pitt of The Isle of Wright County, Merchant do make constitute and ordaine my son John Pitt my true and lawfull attorney to ask receive and procquer of Hugh Lee the quantity of two thousand eight hundred pounds of tobacco and cask with forbore since his bill due and what my said attorney shall there in I do allow ofto be as effectual as iff did it myself.

The following words appear "- John Pitt by - - lre of attor - - the Isle of Wight -Pattent of land unto - - forever - - - from the claims of maner of persons whatsoever In w- whereof I sett my hand the 20th of Feb: 1653 John Pi- Tho Wilsford 20 Feb 1653 ( 1653/4 ), This Assignmt of John Pitts to Mr Dodman was ack in Court by said Pitts and recorded under the patent, as also the letter of atty of Mr. King to Jno Pitts.
