      No.1. William Hay of the Newpoquoson in Co of Charles River. "there hath been a marriage lately hand and solemnized by and betweene the sayd William Hay and Margery Griggs the late wife of John Griggs dec'd". Margery having 2 children left her by her dec'd husband, Wm Hay gives John Griggs son of Jno Griggs dec'd, a slave and cattle. To Margery Griggs "sonn to the sd John Griggs dec'd" [sic] cattle when 21. Hay also gives to John Griggs "one sealed Ring of Gold and Eight thousand pounds of Tobacco to be payd in the parrish of the Newpoquoson" when he is 21. If Hay die without children then Jno Griggs to have the whole dividend of land "I now live upon Att the head of the Newpoquoson River being Five hundred Acres". Trustees "loveing friends" Major Xpoher Calthrope, Mr Edward Mihill, Mr Lemuel Mason and Mr Wm Gany. Dated 27 March 1655. Signed Wm Hay. Wit: John Cheeseman, William Whitcock. Rec 25 Sept 1655.
