- The Last Will and Testament of RALPH WHITING being presented to this Court by the Executors therein named was proved by the Oaths of EDWIN CONWAY, JOHN SILVESTER & JOHN HARDEY, & probate thereof granted unto the Executor
- Ordered that Mr. HUGH FRENCH, Mr. WILLIAM STRODDER SENR. JOSHUA DAVIS, Mr. SEM COX or any three of them do meet at the House of RALPH WHITING late deced on Monday next comernight and do then and there Inventory and appraise all and singular the Estate of the said deced and make report thereof under their bands in writing unto the next Court held for this County. Mr. FRANCIS THORNTON is requested to administrate an Oath unto the said appraisers for their due appraisment as also to every of the Executors severally for their fine discover of the sd Estate

MARGARET LADY CULPEPER, THOMAS LORD FAIRFAX, KATHERIN his wife and ALEXANDER CULPEPER Esqr: Proprietors of the Northern Neck of Virginia .. to all .. whereas JOHN GRIFFIN of the County of Essex Shipwright hath repaired to the office kept by our Agents for now in the said Northern Neck and hath suggested that thereto a certain part of land situate upon Gingateague creek in the County of Richmond belonging to no one nor yet granted to any person and therefore paid the composition for 450 acres by means whereof he obtained a warrant directed to one of our Surveyors to Survey and give bounds to the same in order to obtain this present Grant which warrant being duly returned together with the Plat and bounds thereof to our said office .. Know Ye .. in consideration of the composition paid by the said JOHN GRIFFIN of Essex Shipwright for our use at the obtaining therefore said warrant I do hereby grant to him the said JOHN GRIFFIN all that part of lands situate .. upon Chingoteague Creek in the County of Richmond bounded as follows .. corner to RALPH WHITING: corner tree of JAMES MATHEWS main run of Chingateague; line of Esqr: Wormley .. now being laid out for 450 acres together with all benefits belonging Royal Mines excepted .. and the full third part of all Lead Copper Tinne and Iron Mine that shall be found thereon .. paying yearly .. on feast of St. Michael .. BAYLY of the one part in the Parish of Farnham and in the County of Rappa. and RALPH WHITING of sd Parish and County of Rappa. of the other part Witnesseth that SAMUEL BAYLEY for and in consideration of Sixty six pounds Sterling to me in hand paid whereof I do acknowledge myself satisfied and contented have bargained and sold unto RALPH WHITING his heirs Two hundred and fifty acres of land itaute and being in the County aforesd. on the North side of the River in the.Fres.hes thereof on the West side of CHINGATEGUE CREEK and running up the Maine River its severall courses the full breadth of my land bought of Mr. THO: CHETWOOD being Eleven hundred twenty and five acres being at the lowermost part thereof together with all houses fencing and orchards and with the appurtenances thereunto belonging from him the sd BAYLEY his heirs to him the sd WHITING his heirs And from all or any other persons whatsoever by or under me nevertheless said WHITING subject to the Quitrents and services which from henceforth become due to be paid and performed for andin respect of the premises to the Kings Maties his heirs or Successors, Furthermore the sd BAYLY shall and will be ready to acknowledge the same in open Court and shall give possession when thereunto required and that my now Wife shall also acknowledge her rights therein for the confermation of which and every part thereof have hereunto sett my hand and Seale the day and year above written

BAYLY for and in consideration of one third part of a VESELL or SHIP now called the DOLPHIN which I acknowledge to be fully satisfied and contented have bargained and sold unto PHILLIP HUNNINGS his heirs Four hundred and fifty acres of land scituate lying and being in the County aforesd. on the North side of RAPPA RIVER in the Freshes thereof on the West side CHINGATEAGUE CREEK begining at the head line of RALPH WHITINGs which is the breadth of Two hundred fifty acres from the Mane River side runing the full breadth of my land with its several courses upon CHINGATEAGUE CREEK and so in to the woods until he hath his full Foure hundred and fifty acres of land compleated together with all houses fencing orchards or out orchards whatsoever and with all other the appertenances thereunto belonging from himselfe the said BAYLY his heirs to him the said HUNNINGS his heirs and from all or any persons by from or under me or any other Nevertheless the said HUNNINGS subject to the Quitrents and services from henceforth shall grow due to be paid in respect to the premises to the Kings Maties his heirs and Successors, Furthermore the sd BAYLY shall acknowledge the same in open Court when thereunto required and that my now Wife shall also acknowledge her right thereof In Confirmation of which and every thereto have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare above writtenSigned Sealed and Delivered in the presents of JOHN BROWNE, SAMLL.
