VIRGINIA COLONIAL ABSTRACTS VOL. 25" Beverly Fleet p22 1646

"p.182. "It is ordered by the consent of William Hawkins that the stocke of Catle this Day by him presented to the Court belonging to Argall Blacksone (sic) which were given him by his Grandfather shall be by him kept with all the female increase for the said orphant without any future charge for there keeping or the mentanaince and Educacon of the said Argall Blackstone" (sic)."

"p183. "The stock of Catle belonging to Argall Blackstone (sic) are as followeth 3 Cowes one Cowe Calf"

Will of William Hawkins, York County VA 24 March 1654, recorded 25 June 1655.

I give at my death my entire estate to my wife Sarah. After her decease all will go to my son in law Argall Blackstone and his wife Millicent Hawkins with two exceptions.
First to my son in law John Wright husband of daughter Sarah one heifer. John is son of Edward Wright.
Number two, a Silver Flaagon for the use of all the inhabitants of York Parish in the Church. (x) the Mark of William Hawkins.
Witness John (X) Humphreys and Jer. Hope. [Note: I have not seen this will and am told that Millicent may not be mentioned - and that Argyle may be a step-son, not a son-in-law, as the term would also be used.]

Son John stayed in York Co. and was the father of Edward Hawkins and John Hawkins who died 1717 York Co. and left a will.

Most records were destroyed and some of the connections to Michael Hawkins are speculative.

William had a son Thomas. Court Records Bk. 2, p. 302: A Court for York Co., Va. 30 Nov. 1647, 11/12/1647 :"Whereas a certeyne dwelling house and orchard where William Hawkins now liveth fell into the plantation of Peeter Rigby by survey late made upon the severall lands of the said Wm Hawkins and Peeter Rigby". Rigby now gives this land to Thomas Hawkins, son of Wm. Hawkins. Peeter Rigby had bought 200 acres of glebe land a few months before and the survey revealed that William Hawkins had built on a part of that land. I assume that the son Thomas was living in the house involved, it having been given to him by his father so Peeter gave the house and orchard to Thomas.
